Gary Cohen is an Executive Vice President of BD, where he serves as an Executive Officer of the Company and a member of the Office of the Chief Executive Officer and the Corporate Leadership Team. Mr. Cohen is responsible for all of BD’s international operations, comprising just over half of global revenues, and for the Preanalytical Systems business.

Mr. Cohen began his career with BD in 1983 as a marketing research analyst. He became president of the BD’s global injection business in 1994. In 1996, he was named president, worldwide sample collection. In 1997, he was also appointed president of BD for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He held the position of president, BD Medical from 1999 to June 2006.

In his role as Executive Vice President, Mr. Cohen dedicates a significant amount of his time addressing developing world health issues. He has made this personal commitment because he believes that the BD’s capabilities and experience in medical technology can help to save and improve countless lives around the world. He has been called upon to serve as an expert speaker in venues such as the United Nations, the World Bank, the US State Department, the World Economic Forum (Davos) and the Council on Foreign Relations. Gary has been honored with the Corporate Leadership Award by MESAB (Medical Education for South African Blacks), the Distinguished Humanitarian Award by B’nai B’rith International and the Helenka Pantaleoni Award by the US Fund for UNICEF.

Mr. Cohen is a member of the board of directors of the Perrigo Company. He is also a board director of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF, the CDC Foundation and the Accordia Global Health Foundation, which is devoted to research and training of African clinicians in response to the HIV pandemic. He also chairs the CDC Corporate Roundtable and serves as a non-permanent member of the private sector delegation to the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria.

He earned a BA at Rutgers College and a MBA at the Rutgers Graduate School of Business.
