Don’t let Gina Turner’s ingénue façade fool you. Born and bred in New York has provided House
music’s brazen beauty with lots of attitude and sass, best experienced in her intense sets and
eccentric productions that will tantalize your mind, body and soul. The multitalented femme fatal
has the looks, brains and talent—a lethal combination in Dance Music.
Gina’s passion for House music began after acquiring a taste for the NYC club scene as a
teenager, where she encountered the addictive genre at legendary clubs like Shelter and
Sound Factory—the catalyst to her future music endeavors. With a heart filled with a passion
for music, Gina moved to Boston to attend Emerson College and fulfill her dream of hitting the
radio airwaves. While there, she studied audio production and was immersed in the radio circuit,
working for Top 40 music stations. Soon, Gina grew anxious of not being able to connect with or
visually see her thousands of devoted listeners being locked up in a studio, while yearning to play
the music she loved most—House and Techno.
Not being able to suppress her craving for electronic music, Gina decided it was time to get in front
of a crowd and pursued DJing fulltime to fill the void her radio career created. Naturally she
transitioned seamlessly into the title of a crowd-pleasing DJ extraordinaire. After her first live gig,
the aspiring mixer expanded her DJ efforts while dominating airwaves with her own Boston-based
radio shows on 88.9 WERS and 99.WECB. She rapidly became a heavy-hitter in Boston’s club
scene, but still craved something more. Conquering her goal of radio was complete, which forced
Gina on a quest to further her musical career. In 2006, the adventurous Gina looked toward the
West Coast and landed in Los Angeles.
Gina’s stint as an Angelino helped her musical success sky rocket to new heights as she formed
the DJ duo Staccato, continued with her radio shows and numerous club gigs, in addition to
founding the afterhours movement MAJOR. Out in L.A., Gina also explored her creative side and
began producing her own infectious jams, providing a non-stop schedule that has yet to die down.
She also became the face of the legendary Turntable Lab, wanting to stick to her roots and give
back and inspire the next generation of DJs.
Now a highly sought after musical commodity across the globe, Gina has cemented herself as
being just one of the boys in the male-dominant world of international DJs—hanging in the same
circles with the likes of Zoo Brazil, Junior Sanchez, MK Mark Kinchen, Douster, Style Of Eye, Diplo,
Switch, Laidback Luke and more.
Gina is just as comfortable bringing the heavy bass to dance floors everywhere as she intoxicates
listeners with insane sets that cover the entire spectrum of House music. Listing influences like
Derrick Carter, Two Without Hat, Masters At Work, John Tejada, Armand Van Helden and TKA, as
well as the genres Latin freestyle and jacking house, one can just imagine what energetic vibes
Gina places in all her musical efforts. She has released tracks on all of dance music’s most notable
labels including Mixmash Records, Ministry of Sound, Sound Pellegrino, Black Hole and Defected,
to name a few, and will continue to release her music on today’s most prominent imprints. Gina
also launched her label “Turn It Records” in June 2012 showcasing distinct musical
creations and crafting one of kind listening experiences.
With a musical style that’s self-described as “jacking, Latin-infused, energetic House with a NYC
attitude,” Gina likes her sessions and productions to always have an invigorating affect—whether
it’s a live show, one of her many podcasts or as one-half of the Latin-infused duo Nouveau Yorican
with fellow superstar DJ/producer Laidback Luke that was formed in 2009. As a part of Nouveau
Yorican, she and Laidback Luke create sizzling boot-shaking tunes, while continuing her radio
career with shows for Scion Radio 17 called “Below the Baseline,” and her new position as Sirius
XM on air radio Host on channel BPM. Always created on the fly, Gina has new material each
week for all her shows but it’s her three-hour show on “Below the Baseline” that’s filled with guest
interviewers, mixers and other musical treats she loves most.
As a devout Yoga enthusiast and instructor, Gina has been able to incorporate yogini beliefs into
her music, which results in powerful, high-energy sessions that provide a natural balance of gentle
notes coupled with a musically rhythmic flow. And because of such balance and versatility, Gina
can easily transition into various musical genres, having worked and supported acts that vary from
Jaime Jones to Tiesto, Sander Kleinberg to Benny Benasssi and Dave Clarke to The Martin
To further add to her already impressive arsenal of skills, Gina has some serious chops, with vocal
talents that rival the best pop stars on today’s top charts. She’s lent her vocal talents to numerous
tracks and looks to heighten her singing ability with more collaborations currently in the works with
notable acts like Yolanda Be Cool, MK, John Roman, Douster, and more.
Blessed to be in the “coolest profession” ever, Gina is on a mission to continue making great music
and wants to have a blast doing it all. While there may be an excess of DJs, there is still only
one Gina Turner. “I’m just me, and that’s what sets me apart from every other DJ out there!”
Well that and the fact that she’s a household name in House music who just so happens to be
Not afraid to be herself or one to submit to anyone’s standards but her own, Gina provides House
music’s legions of fans with insane sets and shows, amazing productions and is an inspiration for
other soon-to-be DJs (men and women) all the while providing provide the world with exceptional
tunes and feel-good vibes!
