Glenda D. Price, Ph.D., is president of the Detroit Public Schools Foundation, a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising, managing and stewarding private philanthropic dollars to support successful programs and value-added activities enhancing the educational process for Detroit Public Schools students. She also was appointed by the governor to serve on the Financial Advisory Board for the City of Detroit.
Prior to her appointment to the DPS Foundation, she served as interim president for the Michigan Colleges Foundation in 2008 and as the president of Marygrove College until her retirement in 2006. She was Marygrove College’s seventh president and the first African-American female to hold the position.
Immediately prior to coming to Marygrove, Dr. Price served as provost of Spelman College in Atlanta, Ga. During her more than 30 years in higher education, she served on several university boards and committees managing such issues as affirmative action, educational programs and policies and student welfare.
