John-Manuel Andriote Journalist and Author of Victory Deferred, Hot Stuff, Wilhelmina Goes Wandering, and, soon, Stonewall Strong

Health and medical journalist John-Manuel Andriote has chronicled the U.S. HIV/AIDS epidemic for 30 years. Kirkus Reviews hailed Andriote's award-winning book VICTORY DEFERRED (University of Chicago Press) as "the most important AIDS chronicle since Randy Shilts' AND THE BAND PLAYED ON." Andriote is currently working on a forthcoming "bookend" book for the earlier volume, called STONEWALL STRONG (Rowman & Littlefield, 2017) that will explore gay men's resilience--how we develop it and why it's good for our health, community, and country. After a 22-year career in Washington, D.C., Andriote in 2007 returned to his native Connecticut, where he has been a newspaper columnist, gardener, city council candidate, and more recently, author of a well-loved children's book called WILHELMINA GOES WANDERING, based on the true story of a runaway cow in Milford, Connecticut.
