John Sharp, M.D. Faculty, Harvard Medical School

Dr John Sharp is a seasoned medical professional, board certified psychiatrist, best selling author, and media expert. He is on faculty at the Harvard Medical School and the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, dividing his time between Boston and Los Angeles. He has been quoted often in the national press including The Los Angeles Times and USA Today. He blogs for Psychology Today and The Huffington Post. He is a contributor to PBS' Next Ave for their spring 2012 launch. Dr Sharp has appeared on all major TV networks and is a regular guest expert on HLN and Fox News providing medical reporting and commentary. He appears as the On Call Psychiatrist on Celebrity Rehab with Drew Season 5 and returns as the Associate Medical Director and On Call Psychiatrist on Rehab with Dr Drew Season 6, which airs in summer 2012.

He is renowned for translating medical advances into clinical practice and for his ability to clearly convey pertinent evidenced-based messages. Dr Sharp is a member of the examining committee of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, determining standards of practice and professional competence. He is an award winning educator and Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine.
