Katherine Braun is the Clinic Director and Founder of Sports Therapy And Rehabilitation, Inc. in downtown Washington, DC. She has provided physical therapy for over ten years to the Capitals Ice Hockey Team, Washington Bullets, Georgetown University, Washington Ballet Company and Kennedy Center. As a certified athletic trainer (ATC), she has provided sports field injury coverage for DC area high schools and athletic competitions. In addition, Braun has over 25 years of advanced mobilization and manipulative training from US, Australian, and European instructors that she brings to her treatments.
Braun developed a unique advanced expertise in treating running injuries from coordinating a multi-disciplinary Runner’s Clinic at the Sports Medicine Center in Chevy Chase, MD, which involved orthopedists, podiatrists, and exercise physiologists. She became an expert in gait analysis with over five years of videotaping runners and athletes and identifying biomechanical problems. Braun presented on injury prevention for runners at the Marine Corp Marathon Medical Symposium for many years. From her skill in treating foot and ankle problems, she also developed a ten year relationship with the Washington Ballet. She continues helping dancers and performing artists keep on their feet!
Sports Therapy And Rehabilitation (STAR clinic) was founded in 1987 to provide the same skilled, top level, progressive rehabilitation serves to the recreational and competitive athlete that she provided to the professional sports teams. The physical therapist team has advanced training in manual therapy, joint manipulation, video gait analysis, performance enhancement, Pilates, back pain, trigger point dry needling, Kinesiotape, orthotics and bracing. The goal is to return individuals to their athletic and life activities as quickly as possible!
In addition, STAR clinic is one of the premier clinical affiliations for training new physical therapists in advanced orthopedics and sports medicine. Braun serves as a Certified Clinical Instructor (CCI) for the Doctoral PT Programs of George Washington University, Duke University, and Washington University.
