Kathy Baron is Features Producer and Research Editor at Edutopia, the online magazine of the George Lucas Educational Foundation, where she covers what works in education. She cut her education-beat teeth during more than a decade at KQED Public Radio in San Francisco. Kathy’s reports and documentaries have also aired on NPR, The World, VOA, and Soundprint among others. She also spent two years as a Journalism Fellow at UC Berkeley Law School’s Chief Justice Earl Warren Institute on Race, Ethnicity and Diversity, where her attempts at teaching gave her a new respect for the men and women who do it so well. She and her husband have two children and a new college-student loan for the eldest. Kathy comes from a family of public school teachers, and says
education is in her DNA.
