Kim graduated from the University of California Berkeley with a BA in Development Studies. As Co-President of the Berkeley Chapter of STAND, she was actively involved with campaigns to raise awareness of conflicts in Sudan. Kim studied for a year at the University of Cape Town where she volunteered with a grassroots organization to provide aid for recent refugees and tutored students in the Khayelitsha Township. Kim is an active volunteer with The Valentino Achak Deng Foundation, which is committed to creating educational opportunities in South Sudan, especially for young girls.
