Laverne H. Bardy spent several years writing press releases for fund raisers and organizations, for the West Essex Tribune. Reporting assignments for Northern Horizons and Montague magazines had her exercising her journalism skills, but it didn’t take long for her to realize that straight reporting did not allow for her need to write creatively, and with humor. In 1999 she was offered an opportunity to have her own column, “Laverne’s View,” in 50 Plus Monthly, a regional NJ newspaper. Her humorous, often irreverent, slant on life in general, and aging in particular, drew a large readership. Bardy has been syndicated with Senior Wire News Service since 2004. Her column is read in newspapers throughout the United States, in Australia and in India. She has written for numerous magazines and e-zines, and her work is included in many anthologies, and in a college text book. Her book, How The (Bleep) Did I Get This Old? was released in January, 2012, and is a compilation of the best of her columns. As a result of the book, Bardy was asked to blog for numerous online magazines, including Forbes and Huffington Post, She was interviewed by Carole Marks on her national radio talk show, "A Touch of Gray, and by Brian Feinblum for "Book Marketing Buzz Blog." She has been interviewed twice, for Bottom Line Retirement. Her book, "How the (Bleep) Did I Get This Old?" is available on Amazon.com and other online sources. It is also available on Kindle. A CD version is available on Audible Audio CD and Whispersync. Bardy lives in northern New Jersey with her husband Marc, dog Shadeaux, Caique parrot Molly, and outdoor cat Midnight, surrounded by wetlands and its many wild critters, sprawling farms, lakes, and magnificent mountains. Sheep, horses, cows and pigs are her neighbors.....that didn't come out right. Her neighbors are actually lovely. Bardy attended University of Miami and Upsala College.
