Michael Sellers

Michael Sellers graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Delaware, where he was a National Finalist in the Rhodes Scholarship and Danforth Fellowship competitions. After a year at New York University Graduate Film School, he began a career as a filmmaker in Hollywood that was interrupted when he was recruited by CIA as an undercover operations officer. From 1980-1990 he served with CIA in Eastern Europe, Africa, Moscow, and the Philippines. In 1990, after earning the Intelligence Commendation Medal for his actions in support of Philippine President Corazan Aquino during a coup attempt in the Philippines, he left the CIA and resumed his film career. Over the next twenty years he produced and/or directed 20 movies including Goodby America (1997), Legacy (1999), Vlad (2003), Karla (2005), Eye of the Dolphin (2007) and Beneath the Blue (2010). In 2012 he authored John Carter and The Gods of Hollywood, a best-selling non-fiction account of Disney's disastrous handling of Edgar Rice Burroughs' 1912 classic novel. He is also the author of Warriors of Samar, an account of the disastrous Balangiga Uprising in 1901 in the Philippines, and the upcoming Year of the Spy, which recounts the espionage upheaval that rocked US-Soviet relations in 1985. He currently divides time between blogging, writing books, and work as an investigative analyst for John Brown Associates, a Los Angeles Private Investigation Firm, where he specializes in complex criminal defense investigations.
