Milton Reigelman is the J. Rice Cowan Professor of English at Centre College, where he also serves as Special Assistant to the President. A Melville specialist, Reigelman has a B.A. in philosophy from William & Mary, an M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Iowa.
Before the fall of the Iron Curtain, as a Fulbright professor, Reigelman taught American literature at the University of Warsaw and Kiev State University and lectured on American culture at the other major universities in Poland and Czechoslovakia. Since then, he has taught abroad several times. He served as Acting President of Centre in 1997-98, and he has been Director of Centre’s Center for Global Citizenship since 2009.
