Nang Seng has been involved in Burma’s democracy movement since the age of 13, taking part in the protests against the dictatorship in 1988. She is from the Kachin ethnic group in Burma. Nang Seng worked on the Thailand Burma border for the Kachin Women’s Association – Thailand, before moving to the UK, where she worked as Campaigns Officer at Burma Campaign UK. She was an active member of the Kachin National Organisation UK, and European representative of the Kachin Women’s Association - Thailand. She twice met Gordon Brown when he was British Prime Minister, calling for stronger international action against the dictatorship. She now lives in the USA.
