Dr. Peter Hotez is a scientist, pediatrician, and leading advocate and expert in the fields of global health, vaccinology, and neglected tropical disease control. He is currently president of the Sabin Vaccine Institute, a non-profit organization founded to reduce suffering from infectious and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), and Distinguished Research Professor at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. He co-founded the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases, which was launched at the Clinton Global Initiative in 2006, with the goal of eliminating the suffering of the one billion people worldwide impacted by NTDs.

Dr. Hotez is also the founding Editor-In-Chief of the Public Library of Science (PLoS) Neglected Tropical Diseases, the first online open access medical journal focused exclusively on neglected tropical diseases, and author of "Forgotten People, Forgotten Diseases: The Neglected Tropical Diseases and Their Impact on Global Health and Development."
