Richard Riehl is a freelance writer whose biweekly column, The Riehl World, appears in San Diego’s North County Times, a regional newspaper with a daily circulation of 95,000. He began his writing career following thirty years as a university administrator. He is currently co-editor of RoadKill, a daily feature of the Huffington Post's OffTheBus.

He first became interested in politics in high school when he was appointed chairman of the local Youth For Kennedy campaign.

He lives in Carlsbad, California with his novelist and children’s playwright wife Karen and their eleven-year-old toy poodle Olivia.
