Roger Doughty has played leadership roles in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender movement over the past 25 years. Since 2002, he has served as president of San Francisco-based Horizons Foundation, which was the nation’s first community foundation based in and focused on serving the LGBTQ community. Since 1980, Horizons has made grants to nonprofits that advance the rights, meet the needs, and celebrate the lives of LGBTQ people. The foundation is also dedicated to increasing the philanthropy of LGBTQ people and provides extensive donor education, enrichment, grantmaking, and counseling services to hundreds of donors each year. Before coming to Horizons, Roger led the Chicago LGBT community center, was director of programs at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, and, as an attorney, represented refugees and asylum-seekers.
