Roger Johnson, Ph.D., is a professor in the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City, S.D. He served a four-year term as editor of the international journal Teaching Statistics, a publication that reaches more than 3,700 institutions worldwide. Earning his bachelor of science from the University of Minnesota, Johnson also holds his master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of California, San Diego. Johnson published details of his point-spread rating method in the September 2001 issue of Math Horizons, a Mathematical Association of America publication. His other NFL-related publications uncover how the NFL rates quarterbacks. Johnson is a long-time Minnesota Vikings fan and hopes for an eventual Vikings-Bills Super Bowl.
