Ronald L. Moy, M.D., FAAD, a Beverly Hills-based dermatologist, is president of the American Academy of Dermatology (Academy), the world’s largest dermatologic society, representing more than 16,000 physicians specializing in the diagnosis and medical, surgical and cosmetic treatment of skin, hair and nail conditions. Dr. Moy assumed office at the conclusion of the Academy’s 69th Annual Meeting in New Orleans in February 2011. He will hold office for one year and also will hold the same position for the American Academy of Dermatology Association.

Dr. Moy earned his bachelor’s degree and medical degree from a combined program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. and Albany Medical College in Albany, N.Y. He completed his residency in dermatology at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Medical Center. In addition to maintaining a private practice, he is a professor at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.

Dr. Moy is a past member of the Academy’s board of directors, a past chair of the core curriculum committee and a past chair of the coding and reimbursement task force. He is a former president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the Pacific Dermatologic Association and the Los Angeles Metropolitan Dermatologic Society. In addition, Dr. Moy is past president of the division of medical quality for the Medical Board of California. He is a past editor-in-chief of Dermatologic Surgery and has authored six textbooks and more than 200 scientific publications.
