Steven Goldsmith is a professor of biology and Dean of Sciences at Austin College, located in Sherman, Texas. He is a behavioral ecologist by training, and earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the University of Oklahoma and a PhD at Arizona State University. Early in his career he studied insect reproductive behavior and mating systems, using longhorned beetles as a study organism. He more recently studied the ecology of longhorned beetle larvae in Hawaiian Montane Forest at Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge. He is married with two grown sons. He enjoys travel, hiking, cooking, and building furniture.
