The Foundation Boys

"The Foundation Boys" was created seven years ago by young brothers Robert and Jonathan Lee. From an early age, the Lee boys had a fierce desire to help those around them and to improve their community through public service. While it may seem almost unimaginable for a couple of kids, they learned how to work with local non-profit and philanthropic organizations in their area by analyzing needs, writing up reports on what has to be done to fulfill those needs, and matching their findings with the specific, local non-profit foundations that could help via grants.

In early 2009, Robert and Jonathan decided to share their work with their fellow students in Los Angeles, CA. They taught other kids how to do what they had done and created a program whereby young people would fan out across the community, find public service projects in need of money, and put those projects and needs into direct contact with non-profit organizations that could help. The results speaks for themselves: The Foundation Boys initiative has been involved with over 200 non-profit organizations doing good for people in need and the underserved; it's put together events, engaged in research, involved the community, and facilitated over one million dollars in grants; it's acted as a one-stop-shopping resource for those looking to connect philanthropic organizations with those who need them so that both sides are served.

Now a high school senior and Berkeley freshman, respectively, Robert and Jonathan Lee have inspired students just like them to get involved, take action, and become the next generation of leaders in their community. In short, they've inspired others to change the world for the better.
