Vashthi Nepaul has spent the last 10 years volunteering as debate judge and coach on the South African school circuit. She has enjoyed working in disadvantaged communities, training hundreds of high school students and serving as the South African National Schools Debate Coach. As a board member, she has also served the volunteer organization that administrates debating across South Africa’s provinces.
She is a founder of the Tehuti Institute. Launched this year, Tehuti aims to expose school aged learners to means and matter that enriches education. The organization works with both economically disadvantaged learners and learners with better means, to foster between them relationships and respect of mutual skill and interest.
Vashthi is a One Young World Ambassador and chaired the Night Owl session on Extra Curricular Education Enrichment at OYW 2013.
She has a degree in Political Science and History. These are her personal views.
