VP Publicity Interscope and VP Africa Creative Agency

During a career that spans more than two decade, Yvette Davis Gayle has worked with many of the music industry's biggest and brightest names. She currently serves as VP Publicity for Interscope/Geffen/A&M Records, located in Santa Monica, California. Prior to joining Interscope Records in 2001, Gayle spent nearly ten years with Sony Music, where her career track reads like a "how-to" guide for making the most of a great opportunity. In 1991, following her freshman year at Morgan State University, Yvette landed a temp job as a receptionist for Columbia Records in New York City, where she learned of Sony Music's prestigious Summer Minority Internship Program. Seeing an opening to a career path, she returned the following year and applied for one of the program's much sought after spots. In 1992, after successfully completing an intensely competitive process, Gayle was awarded a full time Sony Music internship, becoming just one of some 30 students selected from hundreds of entrants nationwide. After proving herself worthy in the marketing department in the Sony Kids Music Division, she was granted the opportunity to return to the program the following year where she was assigned a position in the Columbia Records Media Department, gaining invaluable experience in music publicity. After graduating from West Virginia University in 1993 (BA - Political Science), Gayle officially joined the department as an assistant where she worked with the label's Urban and Jazz rosters. Rising through the ranks she had the opportunity to work with an array of talent including The Fugees, Maxwell, Nas, Destiny's Child, Kenny Lattimore, Jermaine Dupri, Michael Bolton, Nancy Wilson, Grover Washington Jr., Regina Belle, and Xscape, among others. In 2001, Gayle joined Interscope Geffen A&M Records and relocated to California. Yvette Davis Gayle, a native of New York City and member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., is widely respected as one of the most professional and hard working executives in the music business. She is married, has two children and lives in Los Angeles.
