The beauty of this episode was that it truly provided a logical (if not justifiable) reason for Regina's hatred of Snow White, while making The Evil Queen sympathetic for the first time. And we also witnessed true evil being born.

They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, and in the case of this week's "Gossip Girl," I actually found that old adage to be true. True to form, there were schemes, lies and highly public familial spats, which is pretty much 90 percent of what we tune in for, no?

Jessica Sanchez and Joshua Ledet's duet of "I Knew You Were Waiting For Me" was undoubtedly the standout performance of the night, and a vocal masterclass from beginning to end. it was a joy to watch.

Who's gotta have it? We're another week closer to answering Randy Jackson's latest nonsensical question, as "American Idol" whittled its Top 8 down to 7 this week. Following a hit-and-miss '80s night, it seemed that the line between the best and the worst of the contestants was easily defined, but did the public votes line up with the performances?

Has "Gossip Girl" finally recovered from the succession of terribly-written, clumsily-directed cheesefests that populated the middle part of the season? This week, it actually making some modicum of logical sense.

Thankfully the real vocalists can finally get down to competing. The narrowing of the talent pool didn't preclude a couple of sub-par performances, of course, but it's nice that we've finally reached a point where the good generally outweighs the bad on performance night.

There are so few intelligent, female-led dramas on TV these days that "Nikita" should serve as an example to other networks as well as its audience, because we desperately need this show, and others like it, to keep on kicking ass for years to come.

What really stood out for me in this hour were Nikita's growth as a character and Maggie Q's gripping performance throughout the episode.

After a three week hiatus, anticipation was high for this week's "Supernatural" -- not least because it featured the return of Bobby (Jim Beaver), who met an untimely end eight episodes previously in "Death's Door." The show was operating on two levels with "Of Grave Importance," one being the Monster-of-the-Week case of the spooky Van Ness House, the other being Bobby's ghostly return and the Winchesters' discovery of that fact. Though the two story threads spent a great deal of time intersecting, only one of them really worked for me: the reintroduction of Bobby and Sam and Dean's subsequent reactions to his ghost status.

I was expecting to love tonight's "Once Upon a Time" a little more than I actually did. I can't really put my finger on why, except to say that it felt a little like it was missing its heart somehow. (How apt.)
