Who Is Sarah Palin?
Until the Republican Convention, very few had ever heard of Sarah Palin... and now this mean-spirited campaigner is asking who is Barack Obama?
I'm asking who is Sarah Palin?
I know that she's a woman who doesn't believe in allowing women the right to choose their own reproductive health decisions even if they are victims of rape... but approves of these victims getting billed by the government for the rape kits used to examine them.
I know she's a beauty pageant runner-up who is a gun totin' extremist in her views on the environment, religion, women's choice and the separation of church and state.
I know she's a woman who along with John McCain would divide this country while pledging that she and the Senator are "mavericks" who know how to reach across the aisle.
I know that as mayor of the small town of Wasilla she increased spending by 63% and left behind a $19 million long-term debt, which was non-existent before she took office.
I know she hired the same good-ol'-boy network of Washington lobbyists she says she will fight if elected, in order to secure millions of dollars of earmarks for Wasilla.
I know that she's been found guilty of abusing her power as governor by pressuring a state official to fire her former brother-in-law and then firing the official when he refused... an investigation that began prior to her selection as vice president.
And I know that the American public has had less than two months to vet Sarah Palin, and during this time the press has had to fight tooth and nail to secure just two network interviews with her... while she still refuses to appear on the tougher Sunday news shows.
On the stump, Sarah Palin and John McCain continue to avoid addressing the critical issues facing our country. Neither of them provides any substantive conversation on what they will do to steer our country on a journey back to prosperity. Palin's sheer ignorance and lack of experience precludes her from speaking thoughtfully about the financial and foreign policy dilemmas we face. And John McCain's voting record forces him to change the subject.
McCain knows his policies have contributed to the unraveling of our financial systems due to excessive deregulation. McCain knows that he supported the war in Iraq since its inception, which has been a tremendous financial and military drain on our country. Both Sarah Palin and John McCain know that if this election continues to be about the housing market, the economy, healthcare, the environment, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan -- the issues that affect everyday Americans -- they will lose this election. And after eight years of Republican control that has left this country in deep distress... they should lose. So now that we know who Sarah Palin is... do we want her a heartbeat away from the presidency?

What do the Palins owe these contractors? Does it having anything to do with that $552,000 house that Todd claims he built, and the Wasilla sports complex these contractors built?
Sarah Palin is first and foremost a representation of idea of "energizing the conservative base".
They will lose now but in 4 years come back with a vengeance. No matter how good Obama is, the economic calamity is too severe and the voters, the re-energized base will punish Democrats in 2012.
That's when the real End of Days will begin. (have we learned anything from 1929 and 1941?)
what I am trying to say, it is not the person, it is the idea that they represent. And nothing we can do about it. well, maybe a little something, like promoting education and culture.

WE outnumber them; but a lot of WE have been, preoccupied with OUR OWN lives instead of doing our citizenly duty of vetting and voting for the leaders we need!
4 years ago a cashier at my market, shunned any election involvement, because she was being an independant island unto her own life......

It is up to US to CHANGE IT in the next 4 years! It won't cost any MONEY to change the Commission on Public Debates, ( formed by 2 lobbiests, one for Pharmiceutical, & one for gambling, former Rep Dem chairmen!) to include 3rd party candidates and more revealing questions!
With vision and imagination, money is not needed for a lot of things....

We also know she has the international gravitas of a flea. She believes living next door to Russia is to "know" Russia. Ummm, right.. She doesn't speak or read Russian, and has never been to Moscow, which is at the far end of Russia from Alaska, and as far as we know, has never negotiated anything with elected Russian officials.

She is a woman who appears to be supporting men in her life, McCain, Todd and AIP members to forward their agendas. She is a woman who speaks of herself in the same terms as the street-style music rapper calling women female dogs, saying that she is only distinguished from a pit bull by lipstick. Wonder why she seemingly doesn’t believe women can be raped given they need to go out shopping for kits afterwards. She is a woman who made a decision to keep her baby but doesn’t utilize preventative methods in the first place knowing hunting and campaigning get top priority in her life. Children feeling neglected and emotionally abused when the parent is not present is just as damaging as physical abuse ( not being implied here). She is a mom who, as a role model for her kids, shoots off bullets to kill animals. She shoots off lies to kill other persons reputations as in the cases of Sen. Obama and Troopergate targets. She is a person who would work her own followers into a maniacal frenzy like Jim Jones. She is a woman who abuses power. She is reminiscent of a hurt angry child but using a woman’s body to strike out at a world which gave her a chance to show the strength and possibilities of a potential female as leader of this great nation. She is a woman who probably needs to get back to Alaska since the party is over.
The pair of them, John and Sarah, remind me of Boris and Nastasia from cartoons in the sixties, but I think B&N were more adept.

If you ask a lot of middle-America to explain just who the terrorists many of them will tell you that they're a bunch of fundamentalists. Well, Sarah Palin is a member of what is perhaps the most fundamentalist church. Her stand on abortion, guns, gay rights....
We also know that Sarah Palin is a phony. She was coached by ex-bush handlers to appear folksy to impress the blue-collar voters. If you compare videos of her gubernatorial debates in Alaska with present TV coverage of her speeches, you will notice that in Alaska, she didn't drop the "g's" or use folksy expressions such as, "doggone it," or "you betcha." Her handlers won't let her have press conferences because she's the political equivalent of Liza Doolittle in Shaw's "Pygmalion

I agree and would like to know why the media has not covered Palin's connections to the Alaska Independence party. A radical, racist and extremist party that wants to succeed from the US.
There is a clear record of her attending their conventions as recently as 2007 (actually giving convention speeches) and her husband was a card carrying member for many years. What authority does she have to question Barack Obama's patriotism?

I'll tell you who she is. A blank ultra conservative slate to be used to channel Bush, Cheney and mccsame. She's very ambitious and will do and say anything to get ahead politically. She's an empty head right now, uninformed , unprincipled, ethically challenged, and extreme. She has no regard for this earth, the animals on it or sustaining it; she believes it's there to be used and sucked dry for her enjoyment. She thinks shooting moose out of a helicopter is sport. She has no real opinions, is uneducated in regards to the world, and soulless. V.P.? I think not. I think after showing herself the last weeks, Alaska won't be wanting her back either.

Thank you Ms. Streisand. (Weird timing to see your article here, I had literally just come from reading about your stepson in the movie "W". Saw clips - he's pegged him. I mention this because I hope the movie is a blockbuster just in time for the election because the same people that gave us W are the ones who want to give us the Maverick and the Moose Hunter. People ought to think about that and remember the old saying "Fool me once - shame on you. Fool me twice...." )
Anyway, thank you for a good article and for speaking out. The Governor's got gall doesn't she? Pure and unmitigated gall. That's about all she has. Oh, and the ability to wink in inappropriate settings. The thought of her in the White House scares the living daylights out of me.
