Having grown up in Manhattan and City Island, Barnett is a true New Yorker. He graduated from New York University's Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where he focused on the History and Theory of City Planning. Inspired by his coursework relating to Florence, Barnett lived abroad in Italy for a year, observing life in the European Union and studying the art of the human figure. He returned to New York with a deep-rooted sense of civic responsibility and enrolled in the Introduction to Architecture Program at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Preservation, and Planning. Barnett quickly developed a passion for the symbiotic relationship between the built environment and daily life within it. He remained in New York to work for the Empire State Development Corporation on the Brooklyn Bridge Park Project and simultaneously assisted in reinvigorating Why Tuesday?. Having now dedicated himself fully to Why Tuesday?, Barnett has become intrigued by new media communications and intends to seek advanced degrees in International Affairs and Communications.
