OMG. You clicked looking for more scandalous details about Sarah Palin's possible baby mama drama? How am I going to continue writing now that I lost all respect for you? Ok, fine, I am a hypocrite. I was fascinated for a hot second by the story that OMG U R NOT GONNA BELIEVE THIS!!!!111 Do We Know Who the Momma Is? But really the whole thing is embarrassingly like an IM conversation:

Guys, its a loser. Can we not do this? Let's keep in mind that the person getting picked on here is not the Governor, who signed up for all this crap, but her seventeen year-old daughter. It 'taint right.

When we combat conservatives on the basis of their awful ideas or their unprecedented record of failure over the last eight years, we win. When we get dragged into culture wars and let the lizard brain take over, we are playing on conservative turf and they exploit home-field advantage in a way we can only dream of. Less sexy but more important: sex education and attitudes on contraception in extreme fundamentalist households.

There are plenty of great reasons to oppose John McCain and Sarah Palin. McCain has an Ahab like addiction to winning the lost war and Palin is a person who is so intellectually incurious that she said she hadn't thought much about the Iraq War, despite her son being shipped off there soon. PLUS a very serious question about judgment in Josh Marshall's as ever brilliant examination of Palin's abuse of power in brotherinlawgate.

Update #2: Andrew Sullivan thinks the story is worth investigating, and that gives me pause. But I still insist that it should be handled delicately.

Update #3: Sullivan backs down, Kos diary publishes images that seem to quash any further speculation, and, as predictable as clockwork, the headline on Drudge is "Lefty Bloggers Go After Palin's 16 year old Daughter..."

Update #4: Holy shit! The daughter is pregnant. And of course, the McCain sleazeballs are trying to make hay out of the crazy baby story. My early take on the Bristol pregnancy, its the judgment, stupid.

Sarah Palin was obviously not vetted and it is clear that this is the beginning of many revelations yet to come. Isn't it CONVENIENT" (with all the speculation that young Trig is Bristol's 4 month old son) that all of a sudden now Bristol is 5 months pregnant. This is a ruse to end the supposed rumor that Trig is really Bristol's child. That gives the GOP a one month "IMMACULATE DECEPTION" gap. I can guarantee two things:A) Sarah Palin will not take a dna test to prove that Trig is really hers(after all the flat earth club doesnt believe in science anyway)and B)regardless of the outcome of this election, Bristol will have a phantom miscarriage.Upon further reflection, this phantom miscarriage will be the GOP october surprise to draw sympathy to Sarah and JURASSIC JOHN MCCAIN.Finally,Governor Palin must be a soldier to go jogging three days after giving birth to a child she just found out has down syndrome. I know every woman in America would do the same thing after having a c-section:)

Palin-Week 1: She's under investigation for pressuring to get her ex-bro-in-law fired. She got her first passport a year ago. Had a 5th child recently (apparently she's not familiar with birth control). Not to be outdone, her daughter gets preggo - and of course, now that the news is out, "is going to marry the father." I wonder if Palin told McCain about the bun in the micro in either of the two conversations they had before he nominated her?

Sorry to have jumped the gun on breaking news in my last post! It is certain that McCAin did not know any of this- so much for his judgment. I do feel sorry for this poor family- this is right out of an episode of Northern Exposure and I bet Men in Trees will be back in re-runs soon. But lets see if the media-mouths are at least as sexist and misinformed in reporting this news as they have proven to be in everything Democratic. Sorry BUT! There is plenty to comment on here because Governor Palin was against SEX EDUCATION IN SCHOOL. And she said it was better left to the families to discuss these matters. SO HELLO! Republicans like to scream foul when Democrats point out their personal character flaws, yet they have absolutely no problem making stuff up to create false character flaws for the Dems. The fact is that Palin's daughter IS pregnant, under age and out of wedlock - a fact we would not have known if the bloggers had not been vigilant. This brings Gov. Palin's Christian conservative background into question as a distracted mother/governor and as someone who, one day, may be making policy decisions on reproductive rights, contraception and abstinance.

As far as the question of Trig Palin's maternity, I think this ends that speculation. Obviously, Bristol is not the mother. Then again, given the photos of Sarah floating around, neither is she. I believe Sarah found Trig abandoned on an ice floe. Everyone knows that native Alaskans leave their old people and sick babies on ice floes to die. Bravely, Mrs. Palin took that child as her own, but did not want to embarrass her Inuit constituency by saying where he came from. So let's not blame the Palins for all of this but the chubby, mukluk-wearing, endangered whale blubber-eating Eskimos. Awww.... I can't stay mad at them after seeing their rosy cheeks, kissing each other with their noses. So cute.

The Obama campaign should stick to;

1) McCain is the real dangerous risk because he didn't vet his VP and makes rash decisions without thinking

2) (more importantly) McCain/Palin are only a change in style. Being a maverick still means they will continue Bush/Cheney/McCain's failed policies. That isn't the change we need.

Keep putting the focus back on what this says about McCain. Let the tabloids do what they do. But keep bringing all of this back on McCain's poor judgment and temperament and more of the same failed policies.

If it is her daughter's baby, then I really question that they knew beforehand that the baby was Downs. More than likely a teenager held out til the last minute telling anyone. Even if a sonogram picked it up (they can now), it would have been too late for an abortion, anyway.

I don't trust these right wingers. The hell they won't skuttle their children off to get an abortion! They are so hypocritical! I know the types that do that and then publicly do the song and dance about being pro-life!
