Sarah Palin: Foreign Policy Genius

Update: Now there's a website. Moose in Headlights.

Update 2: Daily Kos takes up the meme. Times displaying on my computer as 6:30ish Pacific Standard, which would mean they posted later, but if its really Eastern they beat me to the punch by a few hours. Point being, no offense meant by not giving credit where it is due--which I think is important to do! Clear case of great minds thinking alike. Check out CompassionateConservative's post here. Georgia10's post is classically titled Moose in the Headlights. The comments to his/her post are hilarious.

I think her "handlers" must have told her that if she's asked anything she can't answer, just use the words "Islamic extremists" and "terrorists" in ANY sentence and people will be too scared to notice how ridiculous you sound.

A brilliant juxtaposition of clips.

The only trouble is that THIS ISN'T FUNNY anymore. Initially I thougth that the Republicans would be so embarassed by Palin that someone would reason with the McCain campaign, BUT then I hear Rick Davis talk, and I listen to people I used to think were smart defend the choice and I am truly at a loss for words. What the hell is wrong with you people that you would allow this person access to the highest office in the land? Seriously, this is just plain WRONG.

I'm 100% with you on this one. But I just HAVE to laugh. I know it's not funny because of the severity of the situation. But it IS funny, because of the situation. Arghhh - I think I want to laugh and scream at the same time!

Something has happened to America. People can be talked into anything!?!?

I'd like to get a count on the number of time she said "Charlie". Who does she think she's fooling with that tactic?

Terrorist, too.

Someone please put together a frequency distribution chart for us. I'd do it, but I'm far too lazy.

LOOK! OVER THERE! It's the boogie man! He's coming to eat your children!

McCain/Palin '08. We're against the boogie man!

Heaven help us if McCain/Palin wins. How can any future thinking person vote for them?

From what I'm reading this morning, the press is covering for Palin—completely distorting her performance last night. Even McClatchy did a very tip-toe-over-eggshells report on her interview, refusing to point out errors or give any critical perspective. No writer is bold enough to say she was strong. But none have been truthful about her weakness.

Instead, the press has uniformly embarked on a new narrative this morning—that Pailn has thrown the Obama campaign off stride. This is classic Rovian media coverage. The day after Palin proves that she is a disastrous choice for McCain, the media pushes her as the game changer.

So far, the New York Times article is the only one that reflects what I observed in that interview. The press is doing everything it can to win this election for McCain. Whether he deserves it or not.

I know everyone's talking about Tina Fey doing an impersonation of Palin but after watching her on ABC I couldn't help but think Jennifer Coolidge might be a better casting fit.

"We work together very well. It's almost as like we have one brain that we share between us." Palin on McCain.

Or here's another one, also Palin on McCain: "People say 'oh but he's so much older than you' and you know what, I'm the one having to push him away. We have so much in common, we both love soup and snow peas, we love the outdoors, and talking and not talking. We could not talk or talk forever and still find things to.. not talk about. "
10:11 AM on 09/12/2008
Oh my God, that is perfect. Now I am hearing Coolidge's voice every time Palin speaks, instead of Julia Sweeney (seriously, they sound exactly alike).

She did give an Obama answer.

Every try to get a straight answer from Obama?

Just check out O'Reily trying to get "Did the surge work? answer out of Obama it was like Pulling teeth it was so painful

So ant one here complaining about Palins answer must have the same criticism of Obama

Another example
Question "Senator Obama do you want Fannie Mae Privitied or Goverment run?"

He gave a 3 minute speech about what he did not want to see which was pointless and then after 3 minutes said another 2 minute speech where he basically said "If elected I will look into it and give you an answer then"

Obama is the king of evading questions
09:29 AM on 09/12/2008
Please...at least he gives an articulate answer. If you believe Palin is even in the same universe that Obama is intellectually you are crazy.

Nuance. Some questions require a nuanced answer. That requires thought. Something John McCain is clearly loathe to attempt.
John "think with his gut - pay for it later" McCain is clearly not able to give an answer to anything that requires anything more than parroting the talking points Rick "the lobbyists lobbyist" Davis hands out to him daily.
01:03 AM on 09/12/2008
Boy where are those REPUBLICAN CUE CARDS and TELEPROMPTERS when Sarah needs them?

She has yet to answer a direct question ................... Not even a question that requires a SIMPLE YES OR NO.

No wonder Palin wanted the interview in COLD Alaska ..................... She sure was SWEATING.

I don't know who the current head of the Dept of Educ is, but at one time it was a former Head of SC educ. Scary, huh!
12:41 AM on 09/12/2008
It's quite obvious that Sarah had memorized a number of paragraphs to respond to certain questions.
In many of the questions, the response didn't match the question. She didn't sound fluid. She sounded like a freshman drama student learning how to ad lib. She knows less about foreign policy and national security than I do. At least I watch C-Span.
12:39 AM on 09/12/2008
Man oh man, she makes McCain seem likable and grounded.

Eeeghad!
