Memo to: David Plouffe, Obama For America Campaign Manager
Memo from: Obama's Army of Grassroots Organizers
Re: DNC Leadership
----------------------------------------
Dear David,
You have incredible options on the table for sure. The world is literally your oyster. There is talk about you taking the Senate seat vacated by Vice President-elect Joe Biden. Your name is discussed for several Cabinet positions. You could make millions of dollars becoming the new king of political consulting. Or you can take over the reins of the DNC.
Please, on behalf of the vast infrastructure of dedicated Democratic field organizers and community activists, go run the DNC. From our perspective, it is the perfect place for you. You took the 50-State Strategy to a level no one imagined it could go. As President-elect Obama has publicly stated, you built the greatest political team in the history of U.S. politics. Please continue to expand upon what you started with the Obama campaign. The best way to do so is to take over the helm of the ultimate Democratic organization -- the DNC.
You took the 50-State Strategy to high levels. Now take it even higher.
Your base of dedicated activists numbers in the millions, in every county across America. We are still hungry for active participation in Democratic campaigns and you are best suited to lead the charge.
You not only mastered the art of field organizing with the Obama campaign, but you also played a critical role in setting a remarkable pace of online fundraising. These skills are of great importance to the DNC. There is no one better suited to transfer the success of the Obama campaign to the DNC than you.
Therefore, on behalf of the army of grassroots organizers who you led through Election Day, please continue to do the great work you do. Please take the helm of the DNC. Or if there is another way you feel you can best carry on this movement, please take on that role. Because the grassroots activists inspired by the campaign you led respect your work and value your leadership.
