I'm a 16-year-old student at Regent House Grammar School in Northern Ireland, who loves to write articles with what I hope is seen as an entertaining sense of humour. When I'm not enjoying long walks on the beach and having fun, my main hobbies are writing (both articles and prose) and playing 5 a side football. In the future I hope to major in Economics or a related field at a college in the USA, as the style of education and the country in general is so appealing to me (and has been since I first visited eight years ago)!

'If at first you don't succeed, cry and moan and try something else' is my motto.

I've been called a quitter. By friends, by parents... by a resentful drum teacher whose sole motive appeared to be to drain the money from my parents' bank account like a balding, middle aged...

Why I'm Proud of My Parents, But Not My Country

I've always found the non Irish perception of Northern Ireland a fascinating thing. When on holiday in the US of A, my family were asked by an incredibly polite waitress (a sure sign that you're either in America or your Irish waitress is looking an incredibly hefty tip) where in...

Guilty Pleasures

(3) Comments | Posted February 21, 2014 | 1:04 PM

Recently my friend was looking through my iPod, and after looking up at me in faint pleasure, began to play "Careless Whisper" by George Michael. He then said -- over the hauntingly beautiful sax -- "Is this one of your guilty pleasures?"

The words "guilty pleasure" annoy me, as it...

Post-Christmas Blues

(0) Comments | Posted January 1, 2014 | 2:26 AM

It's no longer the 25 of December, and so begins the empty period after Christmas. This is the time you'll force your family to play the one game you'll ever play with your new Scrabble set, you'll seem to survive on rationed leftovers and hours are spent contemplating WHAT TO...
