Berdell Knowles, Jr. is an economic development consultant working in underserved and emerging markets. Currently, he is providing advisory services to community banks, global private equity firms and international
non-profit agencies involved in a wide array of economic development
activity in the United States and Africa. He helps his clients develop and
participate in a variety of public-private and community-corporate
partnerships including corporate social responsibility programs and other
campaigns that promote sustainable economic development .

Over the past 15 years, he has worked in leading investment banks, community banks, management consulting firms and business incubators, including Merrill Lynch/Bank of America, AT&T Solutions, Citibank, Broadway Federal Bank, and CMGi Solutions. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Opportunities Industrialization Center (LAOIC), helping to provide education, training, and human resource development in underserved markets in Greater Los Angeles. Berdell is a member of the Los Angeles United Way's Business Leaders Task Force on Homelessness, and also
volunteers to teach financial literacy and community finance to inner city youth and community leaders in central Los Angeles through Operation Hope
and the mayor's Bank on LA program.

Berdell holds a B.S. in Mathematics from MIT, with a minor in African
Diaspora Studies completed through dual enrollment at Florida A&M and
Harvard Universities.
