GET UPDATES FROM Beth Green
Since 1980, Beth Maynard Green has been a spiritual teacher, intuitive counselor and consultant. She is also the composer of three music CDs and the author of five books. Beth has always been dedicated to transforming human consciousness, first as a social activist and then as a spiritual activist. In 1983 she founded The Stream, a community helping redefine what it means to be human, and has spearheaded many programs to help people achieve higher consciousness. Her current focus is co-leading Consciousness Boot Camp, which will be featured on Worldshift Media. Consciousness Boot Camp combines healing tools with teachings from her groundbreaking book and program, Living with Reality, which is a comprehensive guide to change. To learn more about her work and life, see her personal website, Beth's Place.

Beth has always been a revolutionary. Born in New York City in 1945, she became a social activist at the age of nine, this despite the repressive political environment of McCarthyism. Already at that young age, she espoused unpopular causes, hoping to help alleviate inhumanity and suffering. In 1961, at the age of 16, she wrote a heart-felt letter to the New York Times calling us to consciousness about nuclear proliferation. The letter was published around the world and led to her expulsion from Smith College, an Ivy League school she was attending on scholarship. Despite many personal sacrifices, Beth remained a devoted activist, intensely participating in the anti-Vietnam War movement and a variety of other struggles for social and economic justice, including the Wages for Housework campaign, for which she served as West Coast coordinator from 1974 to 1978. As a social activist, Beth was featured frequently on TV, radio and in the press.

After many years of devotion to social revolution, Beth had a spiritual awakening in 1978 at the age of 33. Now turning her focus to the inner revolution, she in no way lessened her concern for the wellbeing and evolution of others. She actively became a counselor and teacher in 1980, and through all her work – as intuitive counselor and consultant, author, workshop leader, speaker, blogger and more – Beth continued to confront our me-based, destructive and self-destructive patterns and called us to a higher consciousness. And she has done so with understanding, compassion and tools to help.

Beth offers original, innovative and effective programs, tools and teachings, focusing on Oneness, self-awareness, healing and connection to higher consciousness. She has developed dozens of workshops and can speak in depth on topics as diverse as sex & spirituality, money, relationships, parenting and food. Her work is broad. In addition to The Stream and Consciousness Boot Camp, the latter of which she co-founded with James Maynard, Beth also founded the Spiritual Activist Movement (in 1993, which was recently relaunched; LifeForce: The Inner Workout, an innovative mind-body-spirit exercise program she leads daily for free on the internet; and Reality for a Change, cofounded with Todd Benton, a consulting organization whose purpose is to bring higher consciousness into business.

Beth is also a prolific writer. Born to blog, she is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post, and she was formerly the spirituality columnist for the San Diego News Network. Her articles continue to be featured in many venues. One of her blogs appeared in Ervin Laszlo's Forum on Science & Spirituality and will be appearing in an upcoming book edited by Laszlo and Kingsley Dennis.

Beth’s five books include Living with Reality, a 420-page guide to reaching higher consciousness, which is a free download at her website; The Autobiography of Mary Magdalene, which highlights a different perspective on Jesus and the Crucifixion; Sacred Union: The Healing of God, offering a very different God, one who is accessible and evolving; God's Little Aphorisms, a delightful collection of wisdom nuggets; and Memoirs of the New Age, a book of short stories, fables, poems and prayers that illuminate and help heal our relationship to the divine. Except for Living with Reality, all Beth’s books are available at Amazon.com, as are several CDs of her original music.

Perhaps the most astonishing fact about this gifted, prolific woman is this: For over 50 years, Beth has dealt with chronic debilitating illness (she became chronically ill at the age of 15). But nothing stops her. Powered by The Source, she wants to help others have that privilege and responsibility.

Beth currently lives in Southern California near The Stream, her spiritual community. You are invited to visit the community online or in person. And you are also invited to participate in the many online activities she sponsored. Check out Consciousness Boot Camp. You can join yourself, recruit others and/or help develop consciousness boot camps for all aspects of life, including healthcare, business, parenting and youth. You may also visit her at Beth's Place (her personal website).

What Is Your Ego Telling You to Do?

Posted September 23, 2011 | 10:34:00 (EST)

My ego says this blog should be on the front page of The Huffington Post. And if it were, even that wouldn't be enough, because even if it were on the front page, it wouldn't be up long enough or in a prominent enough position for total ego satisfaction. Or...

When I was young, I felt very angry about the pain in our world. I was less upset about my own pain than I was about the pervasiveness of injustice, unkindness, prejudice and neglect throughout the world. Outraged, I decided that I could not believe in any kind of a...

My future husband and I are over 65, and our kids look at us with wonder. They see that we are physically warm and sexual with one another, but they find it surprising. How can that be? How can two old people possibly want to have sex with each other?...

Left and Right, Democrats and Republicans, Tea Party advocates and progressives. Who are we? We are humanity fragmented within itself. We are individuals banding together to promote our interests or opinions so that we will prevail over the interests and opinions of others. And who are the "others?" People whose...

We all have behaviors that we know are destructive, and yet too often we seem to be helpless before them. We try to change, to no avail. Do we quit our efforts? Or do we hold steadfast, refusing to give up before the miracle? Through future blogs, I will continue...

Declaring Our Independence from the Dark Side

Posted July 3, 2011 | 11:16:00 (EST)

Many of us like to think we're independent, but we're really not. On a physical and social level, we are dependent on the universe - the earth, the sun and the rain -- and we are clearly dependent on one another for our food, shelter, tools, vehicles, roads, schools, medical...

Self-Serving Myths Women Tell Ourselves About Men

Posted June 23, 2011 | 13:05:01 (EST)

In my last blog, "Why Are We Addicted to Sex?" I suggested that we look more compassionately at the seemingly never-ending series of revelations of sexual misconduct by public figures. I also asked us to look more deeply into our own sexual behaviors and what they reveal about...

Do We Really Have Each Other's Backs?

Posted June 23, 2011 | 09:56:00 (EST)

Many of us believe supporting one another requires us to concur with each other's views. My friend feels hurt by somebody, and I get brownie points for agreeing. Am I really supporting him or her by doing so? Not necessarily.

The best way to support someone is to help them...

Why Are We Addicted to Sex?

Another celebrity has been discovered engaged in unsavory sexual behavior. This time it's U.S. Representative Anthony Weiner. In recent memory, it's been Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tiger Woods, John Edwards and more. Not long ago, it was a president nearly impeached. The question should not be: Why do they do it? They...

Why We Need a Training Camp for Consciousness

Some of us have worked hard to change our world; some of us have worked hard to change ourselves. And yet, for many of us, no matter how hard we have worked and no matter how much we've progressed, something is still eluding us.

It's not an illusion. Something is...
