As we approach Thanksgiving next week, we wanted to join millions of Americans in that time-honored tradition of reflecting on what we are thankful for -- and this year included some incredible highlights:

1.Marriage equality is the law of the land

Still fun to say, right? While our work to secure fully lived LGBTQ equality is far from over, how awesome is it that this hard-won fight gained such traction so quickly in the last few years? What a great reminder of just how powerful we are together!

2.The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team

Inspiring girls young and old across the world to be their very best selves as they secured their World Cup win, each of these extraordinary athletes is the very definition of "shero!" And they commanded the largest audience for any soccer event in the history of US television! Take that, boys!

3.#BlackLivesMatter

Three dedicated and visionary women - Patrice Cullors, Alicia Garza & Opal Tometi, the first two of whom are queer; the latter...a powerful straight ally -- gave rise to what's become the most important social justice movement of the year. These amazing women continue to shape the narrative around the 2016 elections and are the voice of our social conscience. Impressed? Get in line!

4.Laverne Cox

Actress. Activist. Glamazon. We're so proud to have this eloquent and passionate representative for the transgender community - particularly as we celebrate Transgender Awareness Week. It's about time...but she's SOOOO worth the wait!

These courageous guarantors of women's autonomy provide a safe space for women and girls to understand the range of medical options available to make what will likely be the single most significant economic and personal decision of their lives. Oh, and of course they do this amidst relentless and too often dangerous opposition.

The recognition of this NYC site as the birthplace of the modern LGBTQ equality movement is a long-awaited assist in bringing LGBTQ history to its rightful place in the overall narrative of the fight for equal rights in America.

7.Hillary Clinton

Having spent her life in public service, she has worked for women's equality throughout her career and has been a constant figure in the fight for social and economic justice for all. Let's hear it for the next (and first woman) President of the United States. (We think Bill will make a great first Gentleman, too.)

If this listicle gets you excited about possibilities for the future of equal rights, you'll want to learn more about LPAC. We help shape political discourse by getting champions of women's and LGBTQ equality elected to all levels of government.
