"Engagement Party: All the Arms We Need"

Liz Glynn's final work for "Engagement Party" will take the form of a seated dinner party for a limited number of participants. The dinner will incorporate imagery from 19th century anatomical theater to explore notions of desire and embodiment. Guests will be served a meal of meat presented at the table in arrangements resembling sacrificial tableaux. Throughout the evening, guests will be cued to participate in interactive performances via a series of instructional place cards distributed among them. Special holiday sale of works by Los Angeles artist Peter Shire. The Holiday Open House is open through December 4, 2011.

"The Trap Door: Jedediah Caesar and Shana Lutker"
Human Resources (Chinatown)
8-11 p.m.
A display of large art-related items that were previously exhibited in other contexts. These objects were constructed and collected by the artists between the years of 2003 and 2010 and have been residing in Los Angeles for a period of time without purpose. Shana Lutker contributes 15 steel support structures, and a sculpture consisting of most of the "New York Times" from the years 2003-2008. Jedediah Caesar shows a set of eight massive casts of earth.

Visit participating institutions in Orange County on Saturday, December 3 and in Long Beach on Sunday, December 4 for special days full of programming, tours, and more. The CAFAM Shop will host artists, designers, and vendors for a crafty gift shopping experience with handmade and fair trade goods for the Holiday Global Bazaars. Entry to the global bazaar is free, and it will feature over 20 vendors that offer artisan-produced items.
