PLAN ForYourArt: February 10-16

Each week, ForYourArt highlights select events to help you PLAN ForYourArt. SEE, KNOW, COLLECT, and ENJOY the best of Los Angeles art and culture.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 10
A.K. Burns and A.L. Steiner: Community Action Center
REDCAT (Downtown)
8:30pm
The Gallery at REDCAT presents a one-night screening of Community Action Center, a sociosexual video by A.K. Burns and A.L. Steiner that explores queer sexuality through an intergenerational cast of friends, lovers, and collaborators.

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 12
Richard Hawkins: Third Mind
Hammer Museum (Westwood)
11am-7pm
The Hammer museum presents the first American museum survey of artist Richard Hawkins. Hawkins' work has defied easy classification since the early 1990's, offering alternate histories and juxtaposing dissimilar elements, from ancient Greek and Roman sculpture, 19th-century French Decadent literature, post-structuralist theory, 1980s teen heartthrobs, Native assimilation in the American Southeast, or the intricacies of Thai sex tourism. The work featured in Third Mind is, at its core, about the pleasure of intense looking.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 13
Alexandra Grant & Keanu Reeves: Ode to Happiness
LACMA Art Catalogues (Mid-Wilshire)
4pm
Celebrate the release of Ode to Happiness, an artist's book created by painter Alexandra Grant and actor Keanu Reeves, and published by Gerhard Steidl. Art Catalogues presents a conversation between the artist and author about their collaboration and the ideas of translation, melancholy, and friendship that inspired the book.
