This event is the opening night gala for the 22nd annual photograph exposition photo l.a. 2013. Proceeds from this event benefit Inner-City Arts, an organization that teaches art to children. Tickets are $80 and available online. Check out the panel discussion "Mapplethorpe at LACMA and The J. Paul Getty Museum" on Saturday, January 19 from 1:30-3pm. photo l.a. 2013 continues through Monday, January 21; tickets start at $20 and are available online.

Design Lab PDC
Pacific Design Center (West Hollywood)

This event features the opening of fourteen new exhibits on the second floor of the Blue Building at the Pacific Design Center. Formerly called Design Loves Art, a tour of Design Lab at PDC begins at 7:00 PM and leaves from Wharton + Espinosa Gallery. Robert Gober: Sculpture Drawings Studies

Opening reception for an exhibition of new work by conceptual artist Robert Gober. Sculpture Drawing Studies includes three large sculptures, several smaller sculptures, and a group of works on paper.  A selection of related earlier works will also be included in the exhibition, which is Gober's first one-person show in Los Angeles in 15 years.  On view through April 6, 2013.

[de]-lusions of Grandeur, A Performance Project by Liz Glynn
LACMA (Miracle Mile)

This event features Los Angeles-based artist Liz Glynn doing a cycle of site-specific performances in response to large-scale sculptures by Rodin in LACMA's collection. Glynn's works consider the process of creating, moving, and erecting large-scale sculptures and the human efforts necessary to do so. This is the first in a series of performances by Liz Glynn to take place at LACMA throughout 2013.

Fiona Connor: Bare Use
1301 PE (Miracle Mile)

Opening reception for an exhibition of works by Los Angeles-based artist Fiona Connor. Bare Use includes a variety of fabricated everyday objects functioning as sculpture. On view through February 23, 2013.

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 23

LA Art Show Opening Night Premiere Party 
Los Angeles Convention Center (Downtown)

Opening night party for the 2013 LA Art Show. Proceeds benefit a variety of charities that connect children and art. Tickets begin at $125 and include food, drinks, and unlimited admission to the LA Art Show and are available online. The LA Art show opens to the public on Thursday, January 24 and continues through Sunday, January 27; tickets are $20 and available online.
