PRISM, in conjunction with Honor Fraser gallery, presents a new site-specific work by artist Gustavo Godoy, which rises out of the roof of PRISM and interrupts the Sunset Boulevard skyline.

SATURDAT,JULY 10
Culver City Galleries
4-10pm
Openings and events throughout the Culver City galleries including: Cindy Short's Letters/Cartas in conjunction with Andrea Bowers No Olvidado/Not Forgotten at Susanne Vielmetter (4-6pm), new exhibitions, Actualized, and it feels so good and Pneuma Pleats (Project Space) at Honor Fraser (6-8pm), Aaron Wrinkle: Las Cienegas Projects and Guests at Las Cienegas Projects (7-10pm) and a screening of Alison O'Daniel's film Night Sky at LAXART (8:30pm).

SUNDAY, JULY 11
Taking the Reins Benefit
Taking the Reins Learning Center (Griffith Park)

Big City Forum and Pink Cloud host a fundraiser dinner for Taking the Reins, a non-profit that develops self-esteem, teamwork, responsibility and leadership skills for at-risk teenage girls through learning to ride and care for horses, sustainable gardening, and art lessons. The evening will include presentations by speakers Mia Lehrer and Alia Malley, stable and garden tours, and a dinner in an elegant-rustic barn. Tickets are $50.

MONDAY, JULY 12
A Voyage of Growth and Discovery
REDCAT

REDCAT and West of Rome Public Art present the world premiere of Mike Kelley and Michael Smith's A Voyage of Growth and Discovery, in conjunction with their exhibition of the same name. The single-channel film version, like the installation, mirrors the existential journey of Baby IKKI over several days at a festival of "radical self-expresion," famous for its presentations of large-scale displays of fire.

WEDNESDAY, JULY 14
Is it Art or Fart? Launch Party

Family Bookstore (Fairfax)
7:30pm
Is it Art or Fart? collects images found on the street that happen to bear uncanny resemblances to great works of contemporary art. The launch of Is it Art or Fart? in the format of a Penguin Classic pocketbook will include a short slide show with commentary.

West of Rome Public Art holds its first benefit in conjunction with the collaborative project by Mike Kelley and Michael Smith, A Voyage of Growth and Discovery. Taking place in the exhibition space, the benefit will be a transformative experience of psycho-aesthetic immersion with the artists directly involved in the creation of this mind-blowing voyage. The benefit will feature performances, unexpected and unconventional events, and an unusual conjunction of surprises and enlightening moments.
