THURSDAY, JUNE 3
Nancy Rubins: Skins, Structures and Landmasses
Gagosian (Beverly Hills)
6-8pm
The opening reception for a solo exhibition by artist Nancy Rubins. The exhibition will feature new sculptures, assembled on site at the gallery, drawings and photographic collages. Playing off both the motif and structure of a boat, Rubins utilizes used and industrial objects to create monumental sculptures, while at the same time maintaining the forms and identities of their parts. Rubins will lead a walkthrough of the exhibition on Saturday, June 5 at 1pm for Public Art Party. Exhibition on view until July 9.

FRIDAY, JUNE 4
Andy Warhol: Black and White Paintings
Prism (Hollywood)

The opening reception for a selection of late paintings by Andy Warhol, who in the mid-80s made a series of silkscreened black and white works with imagery taken from a cross-section of sources, from advertisements, diagrams and maps to illustrations in newspapers and magazines. Exhibition on view until June 27.

SATURDAY, JUNE 5
Public Art Party
Beverly Gardens Park (Beverly Hills)

ForYourArt presents Public Art Party, a day-long celebration of art featuring special events, food, dance and music performances, artist and curator-lead tours, hands on activities for kids and teens, and special prizes. Throughout the day, ForYourArt, The Beverly Hills Fine Art Commission and James Cohan Gallery welcome Roxy Paine's Erratic, the newest addition to the public art collection in Beverly Hills. Special activities include Kusama-inspired face painting, crafts in the Side Street Projects Woodworking Bus and writing activities, a walkthrough with artist Nancy Rubins of her new exhibition at Gagosian Gallery, special screenings at the Paley Center for Media, cupcakes from Sprinkles, a box lunch from Porta Via, book signings, happy hour and much more. TUESDAY, JUNE 8
Creating Cinematic Worlds
Getty Center (Brentwood)

A Conversation with Alex McDowell, Lisa Jackson and Boris Hars-Tschachotin on the artistry and craft of production design as seminal to shaping the aesthetics of film. This panel discussion explores the process of production design--the transformation from paper, to set, to film--and recent changes to this evolution. Panelists chart the changing media involved in production design, as well as the essential role that research plays in the process. Reception to follow. Free, reservations required.
