My 91st Birthday Wish: Support Morris Animal Foundation

Posted: 01/16/2013 10:07 am

Dear Friends,

Animals are near and dear to my heart, and I've devoted my life to trying to improve their lives. Since a girl like me already has more than I could hope for, I'm asking fellow animal lovers for a special birthday gift this year. To help celebrate my 91st birthday on January 17, please help me raise $10,000 for Morris Animal Foundation.

I've worked with Morris Animal Foundation for more than 40 years now, and I'm so proud of all they've done to advance veterinary medicine for animals worldwide. This year, the Foundation will celebrate its 65th anniversary (still quite a youngster if you ask me!). Since its founding, Morris Animal Foundation has invested more than $70 million toward more than 2,000 health studies for dogs, cats, horses and hundreds of wildlife species, including my favorite: the California sea otter!

These studies have led to significant breakthroughs in diagnostics, treatments, preventions and cures for animals. Some of the breakthroughs funded through the Foundation have even become gold standards in veterinary care.

If you love animals like I do, please make a gift to Morris Animal Foundation today, and then ask five of your friends to support science that will make the world a brighter place for animals. If you can't give now, please considering sharing this page with your animal-loving friends. It would make a golden girl like me very happy!

Yours truly,

You're an absolute Angel Betty. Have loved what you've done for animals for many years.
I give to all animals, Farm animals, wildlife, Dogs and cats and many more. They need us so badly. Just adopted 3 boys, Bruno, Gino and Louie! These 5 and 6 year old puppy dogs had been so abused. Not anymore.God how my husband and I love Animals... Happy, Happy Birthday Beautiful lady. I pray you have many, many more...

I love animals like Betty White does and I like she is promoting animal charities and animal issues. I also want to give money to animal charities. The only thing is that I don't think Betty White is vegan, and as Gandhi said, you should be the change you want to see in this world. So if you want to see better treatment for animals, the first thing is to start with your ownself, by no longer contributing to animal abuse. And after that, you can donate money to charities.

Actually, just because a person chooses not to eat meat, or dairy doesn't mean that they aren't contributing to cruelty-free farms. There are plenty of crop or animal-free farms out there that encroaches on wildlife and kills more animals that way than dairy/meat farms do every year. as a matter of fact, many animal-free farms in the world have actually contributed to the endangered status of many animals by clearing the lands for crops and the like.
*sighs* the naivety of Vegetarians and Vegans astounds me sometimes. The best you could do is look for a local farm that doesn't encroach on the environment too much, and treats their animals well and humanely by allowing them to live an nearly natural lifestyle outside. But you have to realize that by depending on fruit and crop farms more that means that they have to clear MORE LAND for growing food... which leads to LESS LAND for wildlife!

Oh grow up. I work at a wildlife hospital with vegans, vegetarians, meat and fish eaters and who knows what else. So what. They spend their poorly paid days curing, feeding, loving and healing everything from birds to squirrels. If we had to wait for staff to be "perfect" this place couldn't operate. Why don't you actually do something for the benefit of animals, actively and see how much better you feel. I promise.you will.

One Dollar a month, if everybody gave One dollar per month, that would be about $310,000,000 per month to help a foundation. Or Two or a Thousand Foundations !!!! So if it be possible for all people to spare One Dollar a month, that would be a grand total of 12 Dollars a year !!! Think about it ...
Butt the thing that I don't like or trust with this would be who can you trust with this kind of money,??

God bless you Miss Betty. However, St. Jude hospital can use more funds. Food banks need funds. Some families are homeless and cannot feed their children. I love animals, but humans needs should be our number one concern.

You have your priorities, others have theirs. Besides, who says that animal lovers can't support multiple charities?

f/f. You can even do both at once. Our local Meals on Wheels program started a concurrent Critter Meals on Wheels where they also bring out pet food b/c they discovered the seniors were giving some or even all of their Meals to their beloved pets. Genius program, no?

Humans, being the apex preditors, already have more advocates, charities and resources than any other species of life on this planet. They are also the one's who are responsible for most of the destruction of the planet we share. I think a donation to those who have only a minute FRACTION of a voice deserve a little recognition. After all, we have created a society which uses, abuses and feeds on animals. The LEAST we can do is give a little charity their way.
Way to go Betty!
