Bill’s last job on Capitol Hill was serving as the first, full-time, paid Executive Director and Policy Advisor to the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC) from 2005 to 2009, during which time the CPC increased from 57 to 80 Members and became bicameral. He retired in the summer of 2009, after more than thirty years of professional staff work inside Congress. He worked for multiple House and Senate Members, serving in every type of high-level professional staff position in the legislative branch of our government at the national and state levels, including Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, Press Secretary, and Economic Development Director. In addition, he worked as a Senior Policy Advisor in the AFL-CIO International Affairs Department and Solidarity Center.
