Three repukes bashing Obama. Great show, Bill. Or should I say your worst show ever.

Bluesman48: I feel so sorry for you. Someone actually criticized Obama instead of praised him. Well, now you know how Hillary has felt throughout this whole nomination process. Someday, maybe the mainstream media will actually look into Mr. Obama and his background. If that ever happens, you're really going to be "repuking."

How can you call spreading disproven lies criticizing?

If someone on the show had said that Hillary and Bill had Vince Foster killed, would that be criticizing or spreading viscous lies?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:54 PM on 02/25/2008

It's not that Obama was criticized, it's that the republican congressman from Alabama was telling outright lies, and no one on the show called him on it.

A Farrakhan endorsement in the past would have shot down any candidate, but not today.
Farrakhan endorses the teflon candidate the Huffington and others have created.
Obama gets a free pass.
Deceive the infidel at all cost.
Why even sorry asses like Leno and Letterman will not touch him.
Glad you and Kimmble have some guts.

It's more than just a Farrakhan endorsement. Obama's pastor, mentor and spiritual advisor, Rev. Wright, gave Farrakhan a lifetime achievement award last November. Where is the press on this one?

Bill- Love the show... PLEASE, PLEASE keep trying to get Al Franken on your show... he would be a great addition to it!

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:15 PM on 02/25/2008

Bill I usually love your show and I enjoy seeing all ideologies represented but liars like Rep Kingston should be barred from future shows. It is a lie, and I'd be surprised if the Rep did not know this, that Obama refuses to recite the Anthem and does not put his hand over his heart when it is recited. Also Obama never said "he would embrace" Raoul Castro as the Rep stated but rather Obama says he would meet with him.

I agree. I was absolutely shocked by those comments. If the guy was not knowingly lying, then his ignorance and naivety are beyond belief. The pledge of allegiance thing? Everyone knows that's BS! Who could be so out of touch that they would be willing to believe that a major presidential candidate could make it this far in a campaign while "refusing" to say the pledge? Oh, I guess it's because of the "free pass" the media has given Obama.

Bill - love the show BUT when Congressman Kington ragged on Senator Obama not wearing a flag lapel pin - no one bothered to mention that the Congressman was not wearing one himself.

Question 1 - Why does the Congressman hate America?

Question 2 - Perhaps his pin was still on his sheet?

Since when does wearing a flag pin on your lapel or holding your hand over your heart make you a patriot? What BS! I will not pledge to the flag after they inserted the "McCarthy" under god part. I will however do anything in my power to honor and protect the Constitution. The guy who wrote the pledge was trying to sell American flags. People need to learn their history. It was written for patriotism unless capitalism is patriotic! The Republicans need to grow up. Given the condition of this country, you would think they might have something useful to say.

Bill, I heard the buzz on "No End in Sight" but was dissuaded from seeing it by friends who felt the casting was weak, direction sloppy and ending predictable ...

But I will try to catch the film at an Art House, if one can still be found.

I watch Bill and Enjoy his show very much but the last one was an Obama bash and I did not get it at all or understand why facts we all knew and were blogging out were not corrected before the show ended. "New Rules" is good but the real rule in all of this is that the truth be told even on a show which is fun. What damage was done to Barack Obama and Michelle as the guest lied and were allowed to go forward and no one corrected the glaring misrepresentation. Not fair!!

My main criticism of Bill's show, which I watch every week, is his reliance on certain guests who come back time and time again. Like Frum for instance, who is literally incapable of carrying on an actual conversation. He's good at lecturing, but not conversing.

They arrive with talking points in tow, and never move off topic in any substantive way. With Frum in particular, you get the same thing every time he appears on the show. Same is true of Rep. Jack Kingston, who is a serial guest on Maher's show. Same old shit, different day.

I guess I expect that there are more people out there who want to be on his show than there actually are. I really don't mind having both sides represented, but it would be far more interesting if they'd arrive with open minds, and an ability to converse intelligently rather than using talking point one liners like Kingston did on the most recent show. Be nice if at some point they realize that this is an honest discussion about the real world, and that talking points should be left at the door.

Bill, that crack about Obama not putting his hand over his heart during the Pledge of Allegiance was not based in fact. IIRC, it had to do with the fact that he didn't have his hand over his heart during the "Star Spangled Banner", which has never had such a requirement, albeit many Americans do this now (out of Patriotic Hysteria, i grok).

I hope next week, your BS meter will go off the next time your "conservative" guests try to trot out more of this tripe.

Keep up the good fight!

Rubona,

The Star Spangled Banner wasn't even playing when the phot was snapped.

Jewish people in general are for Hillary. Ny, Calif. & Florida.

The wealthy Jewish establishment always votes for the candidate most commited to Israel.

I'm not being prejudice. I love Jews. Can't get enough of them truth be told. Hillary is now an honorary Jew. As is Bill of course.

I just read a NY Jewish newspaper at my MD's waiting room and I was amazed at the anti-Obama campaign that apparently is going on through e-mail. The newspaper wasn't sure whether Obama was pro-Israel or not while it had a Rabbi who said that he had known Obama over many years and that he could state unequivically that Obama was MORE PRO-ISRAEL than most Jews. What to make out of all this? I don't really know. I did learn though about the people surrounded Obama's Campaign.

Bill, I was really bummed when neither you nor anyone else on your show pointed out that Michelle Obama had attempted to clarify what she meant when she made the 'finally' proud of America remark. I didn't really expect anything from the 2 conservatives on the panel, but the rest of you (including Taibbi) should have known better.

One of many places that printed Ms. Obama's response:

Did anyone catch Obama in his Turbin? Good work Bill I was starting to tune you out because you were always against Hillary. In fact I was going to cancel HBO just to get rid of you. Now I've changed my mind. I'll keep you but I wish you'd get some strong women on there who are supporters of Hillary. I'm glad she is ripping Obama anew one. He is really a phony. Any other black man but him I just don't trust him at all. What about Powell??????? Ralph Nader will get my vote if Obama is the candidate.Something about him just creeps me out. I'll tell you who the repubs will run next time. Bob (Chattanooga) Corker junior senator from Tennessee. Remeber you heard it from me first

What did Obama do and feel when 9/11 happened?

I REALLY want to know.

I flew a flag after 9/11. I felt love for this land and people.

Obama's father wasn't even African American. It is like electing a newcomer to the highest office of the land.

Do we not have more love for our country than this??

We have "foreigners" enlisting in our army, fighting our dirty war for us and still can't seem to give them citizenship in due course. Don't the chicken hawks who love cheap oil "have more love for our country than this"?

Re: Obama. We could use a few newcomers, at all levels.

For the record, I have too many friends in Iraq and too many times. On 9/12, my daughter was in a high danger, prime target (so they tell us) job here in the U.S.

It's time for the warmongers in this nation to pay their on way, with their lives and their money. Fold up the flag properly and enlist.

vsign:

Is flying our flag your biggest contribution? How much effort went into that?

Have you shown up at your local city council/mayoral meeting and expressed your views?

Have you spent time at parent/teacher's conferences?

Have you donated time and money to your local and national candidates?

Have you served food at a homeless shelter?

Have you rebuilt homes with Habitat for Humanity?

Have you gone door-to-door, met your neighbors and talked about what YOU want to do to improve the neighborhood?

Have you researched with an open mind the life stories of each presidential candidate or did you just watch TV?

You'd have to love the country more than your own life and privacy to put yourself through a presidential campaign. Go ahead and try it, THEN you can criticize others.

So Obama's US birth, his Kansas-born American mother and her midwestern American parents who helped raise Obama don't count for nothin' in your book, huh?

"I flew a flag after 9/11. I felt love for this land and people."

Translation:

I made an empty symbolic gesture. I felt rage at those who dared attack my country and wanted us to get revenge.

I love empty, fear-based patriotism.
