Realist: Bill does not stoop to the level of folks like Rush who have a propensity to cut off callers he doesn't agree with, or Billo who sends "his people" after them, or threatens to. Let people like Kingston speak. We have a First Amendment and I'm proud of Bill for respecting it. Write to Kingston. It's easy. I write to doofuses like him whenever I want to have some fun. Just be polite and think of ways to use irony and throw their arguments back in their faces. Bill puts them up there for us all to see, and we really do need to know how nutty some of them are.

With "Sicko", and "No End In Sight" in addition to the actual winner "Taxi To The Dark Side", I'd say it's been a pretty good year for documentaries.

The only Best Picture picture I saw was "Juno", and that was really good, but not focused on the criminal actions of the Bush administration.

Maher is a libertarian, through and through. He states as much. He's very much a hawk (which is not typically associated with liberal mentality.­) He's largely against taxes, and he's all for personal freedom above and beyond any social programs. His original shows title, Politically Incorrect, was in response to the "liberal mindset" of the country and the media under President Clinton.

Being upset with Republicans != Liberal. It equals intelligent, actually.

if Maher is a "libertarian" as you assert, he would not be in favor of a single-payer healthcare plan such as is found in most of the rest of the developed world. Every "Libertarian" I've ever spoken with is essentially a functional corporate anarchist, the only "liberties" they care for are the ones that allow them to make money, and nevermind the consequences to the rest of those around them who are not as "talented" as they.

Maher is more old school American as I know it, being about the rule of law and common sense for the most part.

I appreciate his dislike of the apparent hypocrisy of those who call themselves one thing or another, and his utter contempt for the actions of the "Gang of Pedophiles" these past seven and a half years.

May he keep right on doing what it is he's been doing, and the more he goes after the Busheviks the better this broken down old independent voter will like it.

I love Bill Maher's style of political humor and his skeptical attitude towards the world.

There are times I think his views are really out there (so pro-weed, so anti-medicine) ...

and some opinions of his I just don't agree with. He's the eternal bachelor. He thinks sex is the end all be all (when marijuana is taken out of the equation.) And he doesn't like most movies. All I ever see is him make fun of movies.

I know, I know - he longs for pictures about "real things." That's fine. His call. Some of us like, after a long day of work and following the news and dealing with our real-life problems, to get a little escapism fantasy from our entertainment.
