Alittle rough start this season but I STILL LOVE YA !!

Maybe having guest who used to be considered 'out of the box' thinkers should make up your panel so we can hear a discussion about alternative methods to getting rid of this administration. And offer possible avenues of investigations that could ultimately- once again- bring down a corrupt/ psychotic leaders.
The Dems aren't going to do shit: Time to show them again POWER TO THE PEOPLE is the American way- and we will accept no less. Let's figure out how to peacefully by pass congress for this one-again.

The House Democrats are being constrained by Nancy Pelosi and they are quite divided about impeaching the King. Unfortunately, the only tools the Congress has to rein in an errant President: impeachment, censure, and the purse. Given the low esteem Congress shares with Bush, Nancy doesn't want to risk dividing the party and the country with another impeachment. Impeachment has occurred only twice in our country's history. Back-to-back impeachments would not be good. Pulling the plug on Bush's folly of a war by cutting off funds might be good policy, but it would be horrible politics. The only thing left is censure, which I think would be a grand idea because it could be relatively swift and at least bring the point home and we might get some Republicans on board for that.

By not doing anything at all, we are tacitly giving our approval to all his crimes.

It is the duty of the congress and the president to uphold and defend the constitution. We know the president wipes his ass with this document. The real question is will congress do what is required even if it is inconvenient or not politically rewarding enough.

Without at least the threat of impeachment our king will have no incentive to do what is right. Since we all know he has no conscience or soul, it would take the threat of being dethroned to keep him within the boundaries of the law.

How about a simple investigation of how he used signing statements to subvert the will of the law, congress and hence the will of the people.

King george jr and the dick are criminals and should be in jail. I know that will never happen. But we should at least investigate, investigate, investigate. They should be so tied up in investigations and hearings that they cannot do anything else to fuck up our great country till their time is expired and they have to go away. Far far far away.

Impeachment does censure the President. Conviction in the Senate removes him and then...charges are filed against him.

The Dems are already divided. And what is at stake is not just within our own country but our relationship to the rest of the world. Bush has screwed with everyone. And it is our reputation that has gone down the toilet.

It is our duty to uphold the Laws of the Constitution. This country can't aford not to hold this administration accountable. Impeachment proceedings is exactly what this country needs!!

Bill,

I'm in show business, too -- a freelance writer and filmmaker (author of the graphic novel ROAD TO PERDITION, director of a 2000 indie film called REAL TIME) -- but I live in Iowa. I have set foot on a farm maybe three times in my life, though I live in a small town (27,000). You are increasingly displaying a frustrating ignorance about flyover country -- dismissing entire areas as "red states," even though large percentages of those states voted blue (Iowa went Kerry, by the way). Smug dismissal of those of us who choose not to live in Hollywood or New York (though I do almost all of my work for companies in those cities) does not attract converts to more progressive thinking. Iowa is not "king corn" -- farmers deciding the next president. My home town has a large Hispanic population, as do many Iowa cities; and larger cities (Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, for example) are hardly white enclaves. Don't make enemies of those who vote blue in red states, Bill. And, as an indie filmmaker, might I suggest you assert your Hollywood superiority by putting on an episode this season that isn't plagued by sound problems?

how does one get as mean and nasty as GWB? Maybe his mommsie never showed him any love. I see Bar as being one mean momma. Not that it's an excuse. It's just, how did we end up with him? They chuncked him off on the American people, half of which are idiots.

Mr. Mahr... Could someone explain (at least to me if nobody else has noticed), why does Bush wear those dark blue short-sleeved shirts and dark pants all the time, even in 110 degree Iraq heat? Is he trying to emulate Obama who is known to wear dark outfits or perhaps Tom Cruise?

Frank Rich says he likes dressing up especially in military gear. So whats with the dark look?
04:42 PM on 09/06/2007
Mahap the dark color bespeaks his darkside and the bluey color bespeaks his virginity and immaculate conception; notice please that I use lower case i and c).
A bit snarky, I know; but he said that he talks to god(also small g, can't bring myself to refer to the real God in the same sentence with Bush). And what is so totally appaling is that the Popes and the Catholic Church, my church, hierarchy actually believe him and his claim to be the real Jesus Christ.
Somehow I wonde if the Church has come to creating it's own end.

Hey Bill you should know that the Bates Motel didn't have a basement, only a shower and you know what happened there.

Tommie27, there has to be a human cognitive shortcut that circumvents critical thinking & deductive reasoning when it comes to matters of God and the afterlife. At least, that is, for about 50% of the population. And, for about 30% of that group, they'll vote against their own personal survival interests if it's Heaven vs Hell. They don't want to burn in agony forever and be separated for eternity from loved ones enjoying streets paved in gold and the many mansions & all that divine bling which awaits the righteous & godly. That's why the Founding Fathers in all their wisdom, wrote that church and state should remain separate.

Once the real patriots regain power, pushing for toothy laws keeping religion and politics separate would be fantastic. Sending the message by putting a few televanelists in jail for tax evasion and fraud would be superb. Our Founding Fathers knew what they were doing, and now it's up to those of us who didn't sleep through civics and American History to rescue America.

I can relate to the people Mellencamp was talking about--They are RED STATE BILLIES--but even they are not so stupid not to realize they have been had!!!!!

Well maybe so, BUT they haven't figured it out yet.
Maybe thos in Indiana are way far to close to the drug companies(Eli Lilly) and Notre Dame(right wing religion) and the fallout from these are clouding their minds.
Drug company and right wing religious hypocrisy ar in the Indiana air and the natives have to breath it. Breathing befouled air is bad for you.
The law professor from Notre Dame should have his mind examined for mouthing the hypocrisy of Catholic law and Catholic laywer principles as he pimps the Bush administration in the same breath.

Must one be confused about either one's gender or one's sexual orientation in order to be a Republican? I mean, is that a new rule, too?

Poor old dumpy Harriet the cleaning lady, she didn't get out before Labor Day, so now she'l be the one to empty the waste basket and vacuum the Oval Office on Bush's last night.
