The liberal elite just don't get it. Obama is not living up to any of our expectations. The Corporate State is fully operational. He has done nothing to regulate or even begin to get them under control. He's a brand we were sold just like Bush. The reality is much different than the dream.

I think everyone is misunderstanding what Bill is saying. For comedy, he does say things like lose your cool, but I think what he means is that Obama needs to call lies lies. Call out the GOP on their obstructionism even more instead of just being passive about it. Brag about the fact that our troops rounded up high ranking Taliban leaders in Afghanistan. If Bush had done that (it never happened under his administration), he'd be on every channel bragging about it. You can be tough without being a jerk, but Obama needs to get tough in action. Enough with the rhetoric. "Health insurance companies need to stop their immoral practices". Yeah we know. How about translating that to a bill that actually does more than the current pos in Congress

I want to hear him shout, "You Lie."
Or, I want to hear him calmly call,
For the removal of a GOP senator,
With the comment,
"Arrest that man for Treason."

Maher did a good job hosting An Evening with Seth MacFarlane and Friends for the Paley Fest last night.

Like Maher, I loves me some Family Guy.

As usual, Maher keeps throwing gasoline in the wrong direction. The raging wingnuts are on the OTHER SIDE, Bill. Obama continues to be relatively successful because he doesn't freak out whenever the press gets in another narrative tizzy.

He wants them to call out the wingnuts. Call GOP a fringe party which they are

There is enough anger and stupidity around--I'm glad Obama keeps his cool...

He just wants Obama to be aggressive. You can do that without being a jerk. Example: Obama b!tch slapping House right wingers during question time or how he told John McCain that the election is over. I never expected him to do that. If only he could translate that to action since that's the one that really counts

Getting angry is Sharpton's job. Thinking 8 steps ahead is Obama's job.

I know the pressures that President Obama is under. But smoking helps nobody.
He has 3 good reasons to quit, that will outlast his time in the White House.
1. Michelle
2. Sasha
3. Malia

Knock off the coffin nails,Sir. Your loved ones need you, now and in the future.

Actually...a smart, "angry" black President has not been anymore successful than a profoundly dumb and ignorant white one......profoundly scary.
09:39 PM on 03/09/2010
What is profoundly scary is that you believe that. He's been more successful in one year that Bush was in two terms (I assume you mean Bush). He's passing a high percentage of legislation, despite unseen levels of resistance, he's taking out terrorists by actually using intelligence and limiting civilian casualties, he is winding down Bush's war and taking ownership of the "other" war that Bush forgot about. His administrations policies have walked our economy from the brink of disaster and he's on the verge of accomplishing a legislative victory that has eluded generations of Presidents. In foreign policy, domestic policy and any other measure, he's been a vast improvement, despite the confluence of two wars and a major economic crisis as he took office.

Look, I'm unhappy about the shape of HCR, I'm unhappy about Guantanamo (and Bagram) still being open and I'm pissed out the Justice Dept. stance on its failure to investigate torture, but for people to carp about him being in the same ballpark as Bush in terms of ineptitude is simply delusional.

I don't think the OP was a fan of Bush. And Obama has sacrificed too much in the name of "bi-partisanship" which no one gives a crap about.
07:31 PM on 03/09/2010
Funny....But I suspect an "angry" black President won't have any more success than a smart black President. The "opposition" never gets past the black part, ya' know?

Oh..of course....has to be racism! It has nothing to do with the fact that millions and millions oppose his never ending statism.
01:41 AM on 03/10/2010
Well...since in reality there is no statism to speak of at all in America, it must then be racism. Or so, your logic would dictate.
