With Republicans warning (falsely) the nation's elderly that health care reform will implement "death panels" to mercilessly determine whether you deserve treatment or not, Bill...
Sarah Palin doesn't care about dividing America, because in the world from where she hails Palin already sees America divided. It's also in her interest to keep it that way.
In an effort to pass a bipartisan bill with a Republican party that wouldn't give him a glass of water if his tie were on fire, President Obama plans to eliminate "health" and "care" from his health care reform plan.
I've got news for you, Mr. President, the people who think you want to kill their Great Aunt Millie aren't swayed by a photo-op on the golf course. The only sand trap I want to see you get out of is Afghanistan.

Very funny - but let's not forget that Mamet also wrote The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Verdict, and The Untouchables. He also created a series of dialogue exercises that are still used by acting students.
Sorry, but James Cain wrote the novel 'The Postman Rings Twice' in 1934 and Harry Ruskin and Niven Busch wrote the adapted screenplay for the first film in 1946. Mamet was a Johnny-come-lately in 1981 and only re-wrote an adapted screenplay of a old novel.
darned right..and why should anyone resent having their equality questioned just because mythology supports that view! and why shouldnt the great dignified church community be a hiding place for the practicing of pedaphelia, homosexuality, racial bigotry, and adultrey? its shocking i tell ya..shocking!
And that sad, really, really, sad! I can't blame am in the same boat it just that the boat is named Titanic and the orchestra is about to play their last notes on the freaking flooded deck!
It is not sad at all. They are saying what the capitalist controlled media sources can't say for fear of loosing viewers or fear of lawsuits. They also do something Repugs can't and that is "get a joke."
Well, the people who can't seem to understand basic civil liberties are re-writing the Constitution, so don't be surprised if you see "High School Musical 5: the Pogroms"
Bill Hi! That was hysterical! I agree with you and think Mamet should not get involved in the Diary of Anne Frank especially his noted works of Glengarry Glen Ross, The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Postman Always Rings Twice and Speed the Plow.
Alec Baldwin in that famous speech in Glengarry Glen Ross had alot of F- Bombs in it.
His works are known for their clever, terse, sometimes vulgar dialogue and a sensitive moving Anne Frank story should not be in written or directed in a remake by him. Although she wrote in diary with a sharp tongue in distain for her mother, which in her later , she entered in her diary wrote her regret for saying " She is not a mother."
Who would he get to play Anne Frank?
I hope not Isabelle Fuhrman who was really scary in Orphan.
Mamet is brilliant and I know he has Jewish roots but it is hard to top the Anne Frank played by Millie Perkins and Melissa Gilbert.
I am Jewish, had family members killed in the holocaust and I am sure Mamet had as well.
I wonder if Mamet ever went to Anne Frank house in the attic where they hid. I went and you actually feel a powerful presence. I know you will laugh at that comment but it was very moving to me to be there.
I for one would never laugh at that comment. I have never been to the attic but my own moment of speechlessness came at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Maybe not exactly the same thing but awe inspiring none the less.
Thanks for not laughing at my comment feeling a presence being in the attic especially being of Jewish fate with family killed in the holocaust.
The tomb of the unknown soldier is inspiring but not the same. I was at both.
You should go to Amsterdam and go to that site of Anne Frank.
mperl95, I think you should not worry about this. Mamet has a long track record of insightful, deeply moving and righteous commentary about Jewish culture and faith. I think he will do the topic justice.
With respect to previous Anne Frank interpretations, if the story belongs to the ages, should it not be remade in every generation, by the best talent that can be brought to bear? So that we never forget, and always celebrate Frank's story with new eyes.
Now that's my kind of English! He should have used more parts of speech though, like adverbs and verbs with the "glorious word". It means almost everything and anything in daily American life. No other language in the world has such a word like this! Colloquial English rocks! Just listen to America World Police's theme song to get a real feel for it!

Great movie is Glengarry. ..
Perhaps such language might be appropriate for her pursuers, but not the young lady herself.
"Am I a clown? Am I here in this attic to amuse you?"
Very funny, but what about thinking along De-Niro and Taxi Driver lines...
"You looking for me?"
you company man!
Very funny - but let's not forget that Mamet also wrote The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Verdict, and The Untouchables. He also created a series of dialogue exercises that are still used by acting students.
He also did the screenplay (and directed) "The Winslow Boy" which contained nary a curse word.
And I think "The Winslow Boy" is his best work, by the way, which is saying a lot.

Oops - that is of course 'The Postman Always Rings Twice'. My bad!
HAHAHA!!! I have never been to the attic but Bill I'd meet you there anytime.. :)
Whoa....he managed to go 26 seconds without crapping all over organized religion. That's a new record folks!!!
Congratulations, Bill.
Yes, pity poor religion. It gets a bad rap and doesn't deserve a bit of it.
It deserves every bit of a bad rap because it's fiction treated as fact.

Bill Maher and Jon Stewart are the ones I get the REAL News from !

I'm not Jewish but I've been in that attic. It overwhelms you. I have never before felt so small and insignificant.

What would really exaggerate it would be "Anne Frank's Diary starring Samuel L. Jackson or Joe Pesci".
Am I a clown? Am I here in this attic to amuse you?
