Was the "Reef Madness" or "Reefer madness"

He likes to call Americans ignorant but I appears he isn't as smart as he thinks he is:

http://newsbusters.org/blogs/noel-sheppard/2010/05/02/george-will-smacks-down-bill-maher-week-brazil-totally-oil

I can only imagine what he would be saying if Sarah Palin would have got called out on this.

This explains Republicans and other cons:

I think Bill should try to have more beautiful liberal women on like Olivia and not let his guests interrupt them.

If you can stand the truth, a word that appears lost on Republicans, listen to Bill Maher. Period! HBO gave Bill the freedom to speak ONLY the truth, which he does!

PS. Not for the ostrich population, nor the "religious" fools.

Had the (un)fortunate experience of hearing Maher's comment this Sunday AM as Maher stated, "not all republicans are racists, but if your hear a racist comment chances are it came from a republican."

That outrageous remark was in context to the current Az law debate pretending it is about racial profiling rather than an actual attempt to protect the State's citizens from crime commiitted, mostly, by illegal immigrants. So what we have is primarily a Nation's minorities inflamed by those who should know better (Maher/democrat et al) demonstrating by the hundreds of thousands, carrying USA flags only replacing the Mexican flags of two years past, while identical minorities die in the desert, on border streets, and in hovels seeking solace away from criminals. Need mention be made of the Az citizens themselves who want the new law, if only for their own safety.

The Az law debate against it is madness. Look at the reality, which is, a US Congress deliberately intending to NOT enforce immigration laws and border safeguards while it pretends to see the need for immigration reform and border security. It has continued for years so those calling for reform encourage the maddening debate to continue.

Demonstrations against the Az law are doing the bidding of the devil, in this case the US Congress. Redirecting that debate toward Congress would undoubtedly reap results at that body reacts to only one threat -- a losing re election.

Independent.

If Republicans were serious about immigration reform (which they are not), they would start putting people in jail who hire illegals. This problem is very very simple. The only reason people come across the border is because of work, So make it very painful for the companies that are hiring illegals. They aren't coming here because of the weather.

Many many many many Republicans hire illegals because they are cheap labor. I know many Republicans who brag that they do this. Yes some Dems do it also, but mostly Republicans. Republicans like it that the illegals are afraid of the police, because that means these illegals won't tell on the companies that hire them.

Take away the jobs and you take away the problem.

I totally agree with you about the periphery comment regarding people coming to this country for jobs, but that was not my point. Indeed, going after those hiring illegal immigrants would stem the tide. Identifying republicans as the primary source for hiring illegals seems a bit far fetched, and especially "bragging about it." Uh huh...........

No, the real problem in this major area of immigration reform -- or lack of it -- is the US Congress, no matter what party they're the same in inaction.

This country is a triumvirate body of governing, of which the US Congress is the most powerful through sheer number of representatives. It is responsible for the operating/functioning budget with which the entire government cannot operate without. In effect, nothing can be done without the Congress' lead. Too bad it is been populated for years with men & women collectively without a true purpose intended to be for the good of the country. No, their collective goal is to be re elected and they serve their masters -- lobbyists & agents -- providing the financial means to remain in power.

Too bad our entire populace cannot follow the lead of the Tea Party groups who have readily identified the Congressional problem. They get it, but all the rest of us get is "republicans bad, democrats good."

I took note of George Will's comment which was to quote the federal law, which he had in front of him...and he showed that all legal aliens are required to have their "papers" -- that is, their Alien Registration card (i.e. "Green Card") -- on their persons at all times.

The U.S. House of Representatives is controlled by Democrats. The U.S. Senate (filibuster free!) is controlled by Democrats. And the president is a Democrat.

If the Democrats don't like what Arizona passed into law this week, why all they have to do is amend the U.S. Code so that legal Aliens do NOT have to have their Green Cards on their person at all times and -- voila! -- the Arizona law becomes meaningless!

And what of the American Citizen who is deemed 'suspicious' and doesn't have their passport on them or is too young for a photo id? How does a law covering Green Cards help them?

It's actually much more interesting now that it's going to end. I got so confused in the beginning when I missed an episode that I gave up on it for several seasons-- but if you can rent or borrow it a season at a time, it's much easier to enjoy. If the whole storyline is fresh in your memmory, it becomes easier to catch all of the nuances of the intertwining subplots. I had a similar experience with Battlestar Gallactica, and it was definitely worth it in the end, so I've got my hopes up about the finally of Lost.

To Hufffington Post:
Why can't we IPhone users get the videos which are touted so tantalizingly on the front page?
04:17 AM on 05/02/2010
Because a Mofo called Steve Jobs won't allow Flash content in the IPhone
12:06 PM on 05/02/2010
Because Jobs knows Flash is BS and AJAX / HTML5 is the future.

That's too bad, Lost is a hell of a show.

Try this, I was able to pull up all the episodes on his HBO web page

http://www.hbo.com/real-time-with-bill-maher/episodes/index.html

The only reason why I pay for HBO is for Maher. I should just watch it for free but my Friday night wouldn't be complete without it. Get a dish and a DVR, live saver. Program only the shows you want and buzz through the commercials, the only way to watch television (even though HBO is commercial free).

That's how I watch "LOST" Bill! Haven't missed a one since it started and I watch it on my terms. The best show ever on network besides "Twin Peaks". Cable hands down "Mad Men" and "Damages".
04:26 PM on 04/30/2010
Thank you for paying respects to "Twin Peaks". Please don't forget the fine work of "West Wing" and "The Wire"

Hi Folks,
I'm going off topic with a question. In Canada can't get into HBO to watch Real Time, and it's not on local cable any more. Does anyone know site I can get into to see complete episodes? On MSNBC.msn.com I can see all of Olberman and Rachel Maddow.....where can I do same for Real Time?
Many thanks,
Redd Fraser.

While torrents aren't illegal brother, downloading content you didn't pay for is. Not to mention you can be easily tracked using torrents.

I have Bell Expressvu satellite and can subscribe to HBO Canada, TMN, whatever you want to pay for. I haven't seen TNT (Turner) available, which is too bad as they recently picked up Southbank.

just to let you know

When it first started, I liked the idea of Lost, and wanted to like it. But it really seemed like they were making it up as they went along, and I "lost" interest.
03:30 PM on 04/30/2010
I also checked out LOST years back and didn't care. But my new roommate showed me episodes and explained much of the time travel and crazy shit that happens and I NOW think the show is an incredible work of art. Even the cinematography is great. And the writers really avoid the cliches that 99% of TV shows bank on. If you hate creativity, you'll hate this show, but if you like creativity and smarts, get a friend to talk you through it. Same goes for you, Bill. (Kneejerking like he's Ann Coulter! Shame!)
