Pope in Hot Water

It's a good thing the Pope has apologized for insulting Islam, but what I want to know is: What the hell was he thinking?

And if, as he now says, he doesn't agree with the comments of Emperor Manuel Paleologos II about the teachings of Mohammed- why'd he quote him in the first place?

What was he trying to do, start World War III?

Pope Benedict XVI should realize that we live today in an ecumenical age - where leaders of one faith no longer brand followers of another faith as evil.

And, besides, who is he to criticize anybody else for being stuck in the Middle Ages?

Under him, the Roman Catholic Church still won't ordain women, accept gays and lesbians as full-fledged members, or allow priests to get married. How medieval can you get?

Finally, if I were a former member of the Hitler Youth, I'd think twice before I accused anybody else of following a set of beliefs that were "inhuman and evil."

Yes, it's a good thing the Pope apologized. Next time, maybe he'll think before spouting off.
