President Newt?

Politics is like a three-ring circus. Complete with clowns.

Latest attraction: Newt Gingrich, telling Diane Sawyer there is a "great possibility" he will run for president in 2008.

Just who does he think he's kidding? Does he really think our memory is that short?

We remember: Newt Gingrich handed his first wife her divorce papers, while she was in the hospital - with cancer. He dumped his second wife after having an affair with a Congressional staffer - the same time he was leading the charge to impeach Bill Clinton for having an affair with Monica Lewinsky.

We remember: 84 charges of ethics violations were filed against Gingrich during his term as Speaker. He ended up paying a $300,000 fine for "intentional or reckless" disregard of House rules.

We remember: Gingrich admitted he shut down the government because, he says, he didn't get to ride up front on Air Force One on the way home from Israel. Official White House photos later proved he was lying.

And we remember: Newt Gingrich was forced to resign as Speaker in disgrace.

Which is why even though he says there's a great possibility he'll run in 2008, there is zero possibility you'll ever hear these two little words: "President Newt."
