Again. I don't get it.
Will somebody please tell me:
Why was it a good idea for Nancy Pelosi to endorse John Murtha?
Was it to show loyalty to an old friend? What about loyalty to somebody who was her lieutenant for four years - and helped her win back the House?
Was it to prove she was serious about Iraq? What about proving she was also serious about cleaning up the House from even the appearance of ethical impropriety?
Was it to demonstrate her power as Speaker-to-be? If so, she should have picked a fight she had a good chance of winning.
I've said it before: Nancy Pelosi's a real leader. She's already the most powerful woman in history. And she'll go down in history as one of the best Speakers of the House.
But this was a hell of way to start.
Every great leader is entitled to one big mistake.
Nancy Pelosi just made hers.
