The Big Clinton Story

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Look, I am concerned. I've just spent two weeks travelling and speaking with media elites in L.A., Chicago, NYC, and D.C. and among other things, I was repeatedly told that The New York Times and The L.A. Times are "sitting on a BIG Clinton story." What concerns me is that this story has nothing to do with Hillary, her policy positions, her record, or her presidential potential. The "big story" everyone is sitting on apparently has to do with the many current affairs of Bill Clinton, whom, they will allege, has a gal in every port. I know, I know, you roll your eyes, you yawn, you wonder how anyone could possibly care about such things, true or not, when there is so much at stake in this upcoming election. But then you see what is going on with today's Trent Lott/gay hustler rumors, this week's Hillary /lesbian aide rumors, and you remember that the ghost of Karl Rove still haunts us.

I am concerned not for the welfare of Senator Clinton's campaign, but for our election cycles, which have turned into the same bipolar gossip cycles of the newsstand tabloids. I worry that these news organizations are sitting on the story for the wrong reasons, waiting for the moment of maximum impact for such drivel. For some reason, hearing about this dusty-sounding rumor-story raised a red flag for me that we may not have come as far as I'd hoped since 2004. I see the same gay-baiting, underhanded political tricks, the Obama/Osama slurs, and it reminds me that like many of the online communities I surf, I live in a media-elite bubble where we forget that the vast majority of people get their political news from network television, which in turn culls it from the ever diminishing journalistic resources of the ever consolidating, ever partisan print media, which most definitely has skin in the game this time around... which is terrifying.

Of course, like the Writers Guild strike, I blame the whole thing on Ronald Reagan de-regulating everything, but that's another blog.

I just can not wait to have the annoited one Pres and then we can have at least another four years of strife, obfuscation, lies, corporate hacks running policy all the while listening to the right and the media once again with the 24/7 news cycle of the Clintons.I for one have had enough of them and we do have choices. One is to stop them from getting the power again.

Interesting post. There are so many Clinton stories floating out there, Bill is only making matters worse by wagging the finger and going on to lie some more:

My Gosh!! I hear all the good anti Clinton Gossip on this site. I know that there are rumours about just about everyone out there somewhere. I guess if you where an Obama supporter, and really not a good person, you would enjoy finding them out and spreading them--even when blaming others for spreading them. I am glad, and not surprised, that you never hear any unfounded Obama rumours on this site.

Love your blog Bill Robinson. Have to read your other blogs now !
So true and sad to see the media is only about Scavenger Hunt, and by doing that some unworthy candidate will come out as the President just like Bush.

ARE WE SURPRISED? The onslaught against Hillary Clinton has just begun. The viciousness of the right is now becoming the viciousness of the left. The attacks on Hillary Clinton will mount, and she will triumph because she's strong, smart, seasoned and stellar in her goals. But the Dems are doing the job for the Republicans--pushing Obama who will be so easy for them to beat in a general election that it will duplicate the results we saw when McGovern ran and was lucky to get maybe 5% of the electoral votes. Yes, Dems and mainstream media, keep attacking her and promoting Obama and we'll have another Republican in the White House, at the very time when they are so vulnerable and could lose. But the Dems seem hellbent on delivering the White House to the Republicans. When will we ever learn???

There is something diseased about our public culture. In the not-so-distant past, the entire point of being a powerful man was to score extra sex partners. It's biological, man. In other countries national leaders having affairs is practically de rigeur. Here we're so infected with the maladaptive, soul-crushing commandments of bronze-age religious dogma combined with intense media scrutiny that it's no wonder politicians all seem deranged. You'd have to be to deal with such an artificial universe. Let the man sleep with whomever he wants! It has nothing to do with his wife's abilities as president (or his own for that matter).

The scandal should be these votes his wife made...

Can anyone explain how a Democrat can vote the same way as Bush?
Compare these votes from Ron Paul compared to Hillary Clinton..
The way one votes while holding office, still matters to the people, right?

You don't even really know what this big gossip is really all about, but you are so ready to believe. Gossip Gossip Gossip, worse that bunch of old hens. I have found that men are however worse gossips than women ever were.

The big America Story

NYT sat on various governance and war stories for a year and more to make sure they didn't risk re-election of Bush.

I'm soooooooo angry about them holding back on Clinton sex.

Cynicism is a debilitating disease.

I feel optimistic about the collective wisdom of the American people. More and more of us are realizing that the media has been manipulating us, dumbing us down, and misleading us.

I think this will be the election cycle when people say "Enough!" We don't care about Bill's pecadillos. We don't care about Obama's name. We're learning to ignore all of that and glean the important facts.

Speak to everyone you know about what is really important in this election - our foreign policy and the way it has been sucking us dry and betraying the interests of ordinary Americans. The health care we don't have because we spend so much money on bombs. And most importantly, climate change and the destruction of the planet.

Those are the important issues. Tell everyone you know that this election will be the one where America finally tells the infotainment industry to bite it.

I'm sure if Bill would keep his thing in his pants there would not be a story to report.

I'd much rather put up with stories about Edwards' pompadour than Bill's pubes.

Poeple in the limelight begging millions to sell the public that they are honorable honest agents for the use of and control of our Nation and its trillions of dollars in taxmoney, and then continue in lie in bed with and embrace the same old habits and money interests that brought this country an impeachment, young child families uneasy and uninvited conversations about sexual relations into their daily dinner hour for years, surprises no-one. What the commentary seeks is to use it as another covert (psychological) attempt to garner support for Hillary, and to try to head off and diffuse any impact Bill's growing presence that is beginning to take shape in her Campaign. The Clintons or anybody else can't control everything that is covered or decided to be news about them, even if their major contributors own most the MSM. Her sales job, offering to move the country forward(?) with her leadership (and Bill), and to be able to bring positive changes to America is nonsense.

What I find interesting is that everyone says it's over or not over and

Not ONE CAUCUS OR PRIMARY HAS BEEN HELD

Come on folks...let's just wait until New Year's and then it will begin in earnest on
Jan 3 2007.

Mark my words...

NO STATE will want this to happen AGAIN like this 4 years from now!
