Ready To Guest Host The Rush Limbaugh Show on Day 1

Gov. Sarah Palin can give a speech. She can deliver sarcastic one-liners. She can repeat long debunked misinformation about her opponents and misrepresent herself.

We now know she is ready to guest host The Rush Limbaugh Show on Day 1.

But did she do anything to reassure that she is ready to be Commander-in-Chief on Day 1? Anything to reassure that Sen. John McCain put "Country First" and not "Politics First" when making his first presidential-level decision?

She did not articulate a foreign policy vision and plan to restore our moral authority and strengthen our global alliances. She did not articulate a vision and a plan for revitalizing the economy. She did not even mention the phrases "health care," "global warming," "poverty," "trade," or "genocide."

Her fans will say that all Sen. Barack Obama offers is the ability to give a speech as well (as if saying your favored candidate is just as lame as your opponent is a strong argument).

However, Obama has been put through the paces in his presidential job interview all year. Voters have had the ability to learn about his vision and plans, test his knowledge and see him function on the world stage. Some will be satisfied with his performance to date, and some won't. But he at least has approached his job interview with the public with the respect and seriousness the job warrants.

Wednesday night was the beginning of Sarah Palin's job interview.

But it didn't sound like she was applying for a position which requires a readiness to be Commander-in-Chief. It sounded like she was applying for a radio gig after this campaign is done in November.

If so, Mission Accomplished.

I think you guys need to look outside of you liberal circle of friends. She has really energized the Republican base who was so so interested in John McCain, including myself. My preference was Duncan Hunter, a true conservative, but whoever has the most cash wins, unfortunately. Can you say campaign reform? She brings to the table someone who is a lot like the people around us, just an every day person, but with education, experience and who is outgoing. The average Joe likes seeing that type of person in the White House, not another lawyer, please. The whole country is going down the tube because of lawyers. They make the rules, the know how to work around the rules and when they cannot do that they change the rules. Whether Republican or Democrat, both are equally at fault.

You guys must have been watching a different Sarah Palin than I was. Strong, assertive and to the point. Her primary goal was to introduce herself to the public at large, not to focus on every issue at hand and offer a detail plan to solve all the problems we face. Mr. Scher knows that as well as every one of the rest of you liberals. Just out of curiosity, why do all of you want to pay more taxes for programs that do not work? I agree, Bush is a bumbler and has spent as much money as any other liberal, but he is not a true conservative, but a product of the northeast Ivey League elites and thinks and acts just like they do, except for his bumbles. I am going to have a lot of fun on this site.

She described herself as a Pitbull with lipstick. She's going to Washington for the "common good". Yet, I doubt she could describe what the "common good" really amounts to. Republicans do not talk about the titanic accumulation of debt left the country by Reagan Bush and now little Bush. Yet... they are going to lower taxes. It is long time since the meandering liberal wimps that we are confronted the conservative about their addiction to debt and how this relates to the common good and indeed... their very chosen ideology i.e. conservative. The free market delivered the subprime mortgage loan securitization problem that was the financial 9-11 to this country. And what is to be done about this? Republicans have no answer for this. And the witless leftie is not man enough to confront them. Maybe these republicans are right and Joe and OB are wimps, sissies, cowards. It is long past the time to stand up and let loose. John McCain left his first wife and family, yet he is a man of character swooned over by all. (can this be real?)

I can't wait to see Obama fight right back and put all of this int place like only he can do.

This is gonna be good, because it's only going to make him that much more clear and direct.
A better leader.

Best analysis yet. Why don't they just run Rush for President? Oh yeah, the rank and file are as scared of Rush as they are of Obama. And they would have to pay him more. What a predicament for the Republicans.

Actually, I think she will eventually end up on Fox with her own show.

She did something McCain could not: energize the base.

The disinterest on the Right is the reason why the Democrats took the majority in 2006. That's not going to happen with Sarah on the ticket.

Shrill, hateful, mendacious - overall, the perfect GOP team-player.

Did you see Campbell Brown get all bent out of shape on CNN over the word "shrill?" Her reaction was a bit (ahem) shrill. She found Senator Harry Reid's use of the word sexist, but I think she was just trying to earn back some brownie points from the Repugs after her performance last night. She's in bed with the Republicans, but even she couldn't help but laugh at Palin's so-called qualifications.

shrill is not the best word to use in describing a women's speech. there are sexist overtones to it. the dems have to not give the media any opportunity to begin focusing on them instead of mccain's choice, palin. the dems can't validate what is currently invalid. especially, when they can flood every press release and surrogate appearance with contradictions.

i sometimes wonder if the dems know how to win an election. obama might be a fresh change of pace in recognizing there is more than on culture in america. he recognized this in his speech when he spoke about guns. obama is trying to reach a farther audience. let's not hold him back.

obama is the leader of the democratic party. reid should have been more circumspect. worse comes to worse the dems are still likely to have solid majorities. don't be rational. fight for every inch tooth and nail. imagine if mccain and palin win but can't deliver justices. how disheartening that would be . . . very!
