In a centuries-old ritual, Justice John Paul Stevens is seen here giving newly confirmed Chief Justice John Roberts incorrect directions to the third floor Supreme Court men's room shortly before Roberts was to take the bench for the first time. Later, in keeping with a tradition established by the first U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Jay in 1789, the justices told Roberts they were all going to meet at a local bar for a drink after court was over for the day but nobody showed up. In addition, several pizzas were delivered to his home that evening that he didn't order.
